Just tested on a MK808B Plus and both EmulationStation & RetroArch make LibreElec restart..This is also uses the S805 chip.

JoKeRz Retroarch Works on the s805. Is the any way you could get ES working with his Retroarch?

AlexELEC does an S805 version. So everything needed he has. You would just have to replace the EmulationStation and RetroArch binaries with the ones from the AlexELEC build then run the binaries via CLI to see what libs it is missing and what doesn't work.

I don't own a S805 device and have no plans on getting one. So wouldn't be able to do a build for it as I would have no way to test it..

This is what the PI3 should of been able to do. It lacking 2GB of ram and not being able to do HEVC and 4K decoding was a huge missed opportunity.

I got an amazing deal, the below linked akaso hm8 box with S905x for just 17€ €

To be honest, I thought: "Well..just for fun I'll buy it, probably it's total crap"
I was wrong..I'm amazed how good libreelec runs on it!

Though these bold ons for playing retro games don't work for me. In emulation station I just see this pacman console picture, pressing ok gets me to neo geo emulator and pressing ok again gets me back to kodi. I already added roms in the correct folder, my 8bitdo snes controllers also work in libreelec and emulation station...
I just registered here.. and saw this post, I guess I have to ready through this post

                ROM Folder / (System ) / : Core / Supported Extensions

neogeo (NEO・GEO): fbalpha / .ZIP .iso .ISO (BIOS in this folder with lowercase .zip are hidden, and ROMs with uppercase .ZIP show)

The fact that Emulation Station works means everything is working correctly. You might just have to play around with different ROMS and make sure you are using the correct file extensions.

Yes, you were right! I put it in the wrong folders...don't know why there are two different ones for same emu.
Now only controls are messed up, but I think that's in Kodi. Strange is they already worked, now setting my 8bitdo snes controllers up, nothing happens if I press some buttons.
In emulation station on the other hand i can set them up correctly, but ingame I get the messed up kodi controls again.

Thanks a lot Pinguy for all this work and great support! now have Acestream up and running. Honestly, I gave up seeing this ever working on Amlogic boxes. Now I have it back again, I notice I really don't need it ;-)

I'm very happy with the option to be able to play some good old emulation games on my S905 box. I have some trouble however. First RetroArch is uncontrollable with my remote. The main menu keeps jumping up 2 or three steps. Is is supposed to be controlled only by game controller?

Second, related to this, for the love of god I can't make my Xbox360 USB controller work. I thought it would be as simple as plugging it in a usb port in the box. But the controller is not recognized in EmulationStation. I can press buttons as long as I like, but they are not recognized during the initial controller setup. Is there a trick or setting I need to perform first so my Xbox360 controller will be recognized? I'm thinking of buying a cheap Logitech usb game controller (the F310) now, hoping this will work right away.

pinguy I have release v1.4 of my LE build, it now includes full Lakka, so you could probably use some of the cores included, I have not been able to test all of them but theoretically they should all work.

Also can I use your es_systems.cfg for my build? I seem to be slacking on that part

Me the acestream does not appear in libreelec 8.

P.D: If it me appears p2p-stream and plexus.

Certainly, emulastation goes brilliantly, thank you for bringing it to devices amlogic.

Thats it. You need to get/use an addon that uses acestream links (Castaway P2P Corner as an example). The addon/bolt on is just the Acestream engine. By itself it does nothing.
