    Looks good, keep me posted.

I would make the sdcard with sdcardmaker using the uboot from the ROM you have, select full format not quick format option when formatting the sdcard.

Once you have the card made, copy all the files from the extracted ROM, including uboot.bin to the sdcard.

If all fails then I would try the command 'erase nand whole' to force it to read from the sdcard if it is not doing so already with your other methods

          Box alive and kicking

Looks like for unreasonable reasons explained maybe in Chinese religion, box was unable to boot from external source, i had to manually load via UART fatload mmc 0 82000000 u-boot.bin and boot recovery
All gathered in a aml.autoscript script found in a russian site, attaching here in case this may be of some help to others in the future. Commands in that file can be sent via UART
In my case, black screen insisted, problem with ethernet halted boot, so included a command file .aml script

Uploading all card content and brief readme instructions file, maybe it will be of some help to more people in the future: https://www.dropbox.com/s/guzb8180fu...NTENT.zip?dl=0

Off to install latest KODI hehehe

                Now I have so...

                Download these two files:

                FILE: mx2-boot-recovery.zip

                FILE: mx2fw114b-7-10-13.zip

I used this simple method, no HW bypass required, no hacking needed....

                1) Update recovery image (extract files on SD card:mx2-boot-recovery.zip)
                - First back up all apps that you want saved by Titanium backup, to EXTERNAL storage.
                - Power off MX device and then remove power cable.
                - Insert SD card with extracted files in root directory.
                - Insert a match or a toothpick to reset hole - you will feel a click. (AV hole in the back)
                - Power on the MX box by inserting power cable, while holding the match in the reset hole.
                - It will boot to recovery. Good. Then remove power cable and remove SD card.

                2) Install Matricom image (extract on SD card: mx2fw114b-7-10-13.zip)
                - Extract files from zip file to the root of SD card.
                - Make sure MX device is powered off and power cable removed.
                - Insert SD card with extracted files in root directory.
                - Insert a match or a toothpick to reset hole - you will feel a click. (AV hole in the back)
                - Power on the MX box by inserting power cable, while holding the match in the reset hole.
                - It will boot to recovery and start installing ROM. Good. It will restart when finished.

                The end.

But still, I like AndroidGadget image better than Matricom.

Meanwhile, I also fooled around building a CWM for MX box. Even though the CWM builder successfully finished the CWM image, booting this bricked my device so badly I had to use the DD soft method to unbrick. Black screen and blue light. Now it works again though...
                thanks you for this software
i got solve my problem tq

ok it looks like one of my contacts off the UART interface is damaged and therefor i do not get a successful connection with the interface.

Does anyone where these contacts travel through so i can pick the connection further up the board? I dont suppose we have available a schematic for these boards either?

anyways it becoming more of an obsession to force this board to wake up and im going to invest one last weekend and then im calling it a day. I have started programming custom versions of kodi specific for these MX2 boxes now which come fully loaded and a 8000 free iptv list to compliment. These android versions come in at about 400mb but are compatible with the MX2, M8, M8N and M8S

If anyone is interested i can upload a copy for your enjoyment

again dont forget we supply these boxes and offer full remote support free for our customers. We ship worldwide and offer full repairs for people struggling to revive their boxes

Will the "custom version Kodi" programmed work with kodi built into OpenElec on M8? Have you tried? Also where did you buy the UART cable I need to get one to unbrick this MX box..

                        Unable to flash MX Box

i have an mx box i newly purchased i am trying to flash 1.1.5 ( benibenasi magic flash file) but the box strangely in not even reading the card. I regularly flash other boxes with the same SD card and works fine. I tried a different SD card same issue

What happens i noticed is when the box boots to android the power led flashes from red to blue constinuosly and the sold blue when adroid screen appears. I am also able to reach android recovery using toothpick

Anyone encountered an issue like this?

the custom version will be compatible with everything - windows, android (all boxes) and even openelec for those who have the know how to enter using ssh and copy the directory accross

it even has the configurations for p2p plugin to work with all the torrent connectors loaded (all user has to make sure is to install the additional components to allow the p2p to run (sopcast, acestream client etc)

i will send you the link of my **** purchase but any UART TTL 6pin connector will do - they are all the same but make sure the supplier can provide you with the software drivers to identify the connector on your pc

USB To RS232 PL2303HX Converter Module Converter Adapter 5V 3.3V Output YUUS

this is fine and yes it uses the usb power from the box while its turned on (does not have its own power supply)

not these symptoms - they are odd with the red light flashing. It must be detecting something wrong with the motherboard but is still able to boot up part of the nand firmware.

in recovery try to clear cache etc a few times not just once and then try to reboot

if it doesnt work then try a different firmware - mbox or droidplayer

                              Red light

Hello hope someone can be of assistance. I've flashed a few M8 boxes with the Openelec images fine. I naively downloaded the MX2 version for an MX dual core box Gref18. Green man appeared looked ok then boom box will not boot at all or enter recovery. I have tried various cards, firmware etc no. Just a lonely red light on the box. Is this totally bricked. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
