Hmm, I'm not sure what the deal is. I let it time out for sure, because the flash tool no longer finds the device. The problem is, when I hit the power button, it restarts into Flash mode again. I've been sitting around for the last hour trying various possible ways of getting out (sans rom flash). I'll try flashing some of the other images, like the kernel and see if that helps. Strange indeed...not sure if I did something particular to cause this behavior or if it's just my device wants to be difficult

edit: Flashing only the boot.img did the trick. So, I guess if anyone else has this issue, try flashing this image after (or in addition to) the recovery.img or kernel.img.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes. Yes, maybe flashing the kernel at the same time will work.

Alright, so either try flashing boot.img or try kernel.img. The kernel didn't work the first time and boot did. For reasons I'll get to below, kernel worked for me immediately the next time. So, try either one of these.

Bad news: the TWRP recovery does not appear to work on these Pipo M9-pro's. You *will* get a soft brick, stuck at the splash screen. I have no idea what is specifically wrong, nor do I have the time to worry about trying to build TWRP for these devices, unfortunately. If you need a custom recovery, stick with this CWM one.

Good news: this device appears to be hard brick proof!

There is a caveat...you will need to open the device. I found that putting my arms under it and sort of peeling off the backside from the screen allowed me to get all the sides apart. I also used a screwdriver to help aid in some of it. The problem I ran into was when flashing the TWRP recovery, it got stuck on the badge splash screen. I actually was fairly sure that I hard bricked... which would have sucked immensely since I just got it. This is the reason I took it apart...because I couldn't even get it to turn off and reboot.

While looking inside, a little above the light for the rear camera (on the circuit board attached to the screen side, *not* the plastic side), there is a little round, metal button. I tried pushing it. There is a bit of an electrical discharge type of sound...which I hope caused no permanent damage, because I did it a few times while trying to figure out what I could/couldn't do. Anyway, it basically disconnected the battery.

When hitting the power to restart, I held the ESC button also and the device is nicely back into Flash mode and recognized by the device. At this point, you can reflash whatever, especially the recovery that was causing you problems.

        Hope this helps someone!

So, on the M9 pro there isn't a hole to press the reset button through (with a paperclip)???

I'm glad you were able to find it.

That sound you heard was a noise that the speakers make...kind of an audio interference. I hear it almost every time I press the reset button on both of my Pipo tablets...so don't worry about that.

One thing I have found...after having 2 M8 Pro's that each tablet acts just a little different. When I first got my second M8 Pro, the power button wouldn't work for about a week...then all of a sudden it just started working. I haven't had a problem since. Hopefully your tablet will improve with a little time.

There is. The first time I got stuck, I used the reset button. After flashing the TWRP recovery, the reset button didn't seem to help. I was just stuck at the badge splash screen forever. I wouldn't have taken apart the tablet otherwise

There are some pretty detailed instructions in both the readme and First Time User's Guide in the zip file.

                      Nice!

This ROM is brilliant, and CWM works perfectly. Thanks a lot!

                          M9 pro 3g screen problems

Hi I am not sure if i post at the correct place but i need an expert advice.

I received my M9 pro 3G two days ago and i face a problem with the screen. When i switch on the tablet screen is blurring and some times it is flashing until freeze. This happens randomly so i can not figure out what is wrong. I have already claimed to seller (pipomall) and i am waiting them to answer.
I would like to ask if someone faced a similar problem and recovered with RileyROM
My device came with Kernel version: 3.0.36+ root@alex....#250 (July 27 2013)
                          and Build No: rk30sdk-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39eng.root. 20130725 154545 test-keys.

                          Thanks in advance

I have succesfully root the RileyRom 1.2 on my Pipo M9 pro.
The wifi reception is now really bad, only 2 meters en the wifi reception drops time after time. I had with the stock rom much beter reception and stability.
What can I do to fix this?
Everytime when I reboot the tabelt ticks 3 times. Is this normal?

Overall the RileyRom has improved the tabelt a lot.
