If you want to do a backup of your rom (if it is the original rom), you can do that if you follow a simple tutorial. Use the software attached.
After you have backed up your rom, and you have extracted all necessary files from NAND memory chip, please upload to my personal cloud storage to compile them into single file and then you can use it with Factory Tool 1.6. with this link http://s.go.ro/ovn08jsx
I did the same thing with file sended to me from mike808.
Just be realy focused when you back up your rom. Read the tutorial with more attention. Good luck

That is exactly my ideea, but i need an original backup to start. Then you need to try any version of custom firmware, unthil you say is ok. It will take a time....but it is a posibility to cuccede at first attempt.
The first ideea is to keep system.img from d32, and replace other partition from d04. If not work, we mixup again, inthil is ok. It shood work, because it work with alternative firmware witch is for A5Max.
Unthill then, read the backup tutorial and try tu understand how to do a nand backup. One you replace original firmware, there is no coming back. That way backup must be maked correctly.

Hi guys! First of all, thanks for your support.

I've tried manu_manu4 's firmware. Here what happened:

- After restoring my device with that firmware, it boot up and I managed to configure it correctly. Widevine was L3
- I checked if there was any update (current version was 1.0.1, and the device is detected as d.32)
- It found an update (yay!) and tried to download it
- After aplpying the update, it restarted and I saw the screen that says 'Updating the system'
- Then it restarted again, but never boot up again . It gets stuck on the Android TV logo.

Any suggestion guys? We are getting closer!

Try again? Maybe it work next time. But first try to boot in recovery and wipe cache partition and then factory reset.

Hey costinilie , do you have more details on how to enter in recovery and wipe those partitions? Also, you mean to do that before flashing the firmware or before updating to 1.0.4?

Recovery mode is accesed same as updateing mode but with power cord not with usb cable. Sometime a big circule with eraseing message appear, sometime a recovery menu appear. If you can get acces to recovery, the wipe cache. You cant do anything alse if freeze at boot. If not work, then reflash again the firmware. It is also possible to not work at all. It was just an ideea at first. Good luck.

What about mixing an already updated 1.0.4 d32 system IMG with the rest of a5max? Would that work?

That is the MAIN problem. There is no 1.0.4.d32 firmware available at this time. Only 1.0.1 and then via OTA to 1.0.4
Once 1.0.4 is downloaded to internal memory, after update is made, android system ask you if you want to keep or delete the file. Even if you want to keep this OTA update, you can not copy this file to on micro sd card to use it later. I try difrent metod to copy this file without succes. Maybe someone with more experience in androd or linux commands can copy 1.0.4.zip from the root of internal memory and then may be coud use that file to later update via sd card. The zip file must be renamed from 1.0.4.zip to update.zip

Unfortunately, after 3 month, still no firmware available to download. Is available for X88 but not for X88mini, and is not compatible. Keep an eye to this link, who know.....maybe someday will be available. I dont understand the cheap chineze factory....why they dont offer any kind of support on their product. That way after a bad experience with this box i bought a Xiaomi Mi Box 3. Like i say before...there is no word to compare this two boxes.
