I always prefer Rockchip to Amlogic because it's so easy to dump the firmware.
So if you buy an Android TV firmware to change it by a normal, always make a DUMP.

Best way to remove Youtube and Neflix

Do not worry about uploading firmware.img if it's from me, because I already did it. See post # 65. Instead, I kindly ask you to do a NAND backup with all the partitions. The one I made is a combination of two firmwares. I used System.img from the X88 mini posted by mike808 and the rest is from the A5x max. It works, but I find I can not connect to Netflix. Although DRM info says it is L1 something is wrong. Netflix goes to you and not to me. So it's best to make a backup NAND and then modify it and remove the included applications.
But if you make a NAND backup with Android tool, keep in mind when you optain parameter.txt to put a higher value. Use 10 for example. In this way parameter file will be completely saved.

was trying to stream HEVC/H.265 with and without HDR 4K movies on Kodi but this rubbish tv box just couldn't handle it... wasnt it supposed to able to play it smoothly at 30fps? video was just choppy and stuttering... when i was playing lower bitrate or compressed ones it was fine... guess if we're gonna stick with this box we just have to watch 1080p videos only... sad... gonna have to find a new replacement soon

Because manu_manu4 claims that Netflix for Android TV still works with version 3.3.2, it made me look for the reason why no version of Android TV goes to me anymore. And I came to the conclusion that the backup files of the partitions made by Mike808 are wrong or not the ones of the X88 mini. You have realized that the boot image is not the original X88, it is now with Android TV. This image is in resource.img
We analyzed resource.img and found that instead of the X88 image, the Android TV shows up. That's what makes me think about the possibility that MIke808 has mixed backups with others from other firmware. My luck is that system.img is the one from the X88 mini. But the other partitions (I do not know how many of them) are not from the X88 mini. For this reason, the stock firmware will never be 100% original. I just mixed system.img with the rest of the A5x partitions and made it functional even if the boot image is not X88 but Android TV.
But the big problem is with Netflix for Android TV and more about DRM, which now does NOT work as it does with the original firmware. Surely this Widevine L1 (even if DRM L1 looks like everything is OK) is also linked to other partitions other than system.img. Unfortunately, I can not figure out what the original partitions are because Mike808 has incompletely saved the parameter.txt file
Attach the parameter.txt file from Mike808 and one from A5x. You will see exect to what I mean.
In the light of these facts, I return with the request to those who still have firmware in the factory, to make a fair backup, because if they choose to ever change this wireware with an alternative one, be aware that this firmware stock just does not there is nobody. The factory has not made it public yet. That's why the only ones who can do this are those who still have the original one.

If someone is willing to make a backup, be sure to use a higher value when saving the parameter.txt file. In many tutorials found on Youtube, it looks like you put 0 at Start and at Count 2. You might be able to set the resolution as 4k but it still uses a 1080p framebuffer, so not actual 4k. Only the Nvidia Shield runs in 4k. The only way to run actual 4k is with LibreELEC which is not available for this device. Kodi plays all 4k downscaled to 1080p and all videos at the wrong frame-rate.

Shit now I found new big. It has scaling issues. The top part of the display now has a small white Gap. So now when u watch movies there's a small blank love which looks so annoying and ur movie is not centered. I guess this box is still shit after all lol
