Just a LITTLE Longer...
Hey, Shawn!
I was going to PM you about this, but your mailbox is full. I guess business is booming, huh?
Just sending you this to let you know I haven't forgotten my promise to you. I've just been waiting for Finless to root the NextBook 7s first. I'm just glad it all went off without a hitch.
Now that he has cooked that ROM, you should have what I promised you by the end of the week. I'll spend a little extra, to get it there to you a little faster.

So, how is the NextBook 7S? Any better than the Polaroid tablets speed wise or memory size?

Screen Resolution?
When I got my 701C, the resolution is low (larger font, large taskbar, larger on-screen virtual keyboard). Yesterday my 701C was trapped in boot loop (made a mistake on build.prop). Thanks to Shawn's nice work, I was able to flash the rom with de-bloated 3.4 ROM. The custom rom is really nice: Google Store, superuser, etc. To my surprise, the screen resolution seems to be incrased (smaller font and smaller on-screen keyboard). While it is nice to have more screen estate, I have hard to click on correct icon or keyboard keys.
So I wonder if there is a setting that I did not know to change the screen resolution? Or there is something else going on?
Also, I thought this rom is rooted. I just tried to run Titanium Backup, and it kept complaining not able to get superuser right. With stock rom, I have run it alright. Why did I have problem?
Once again, thanks for saving my 701C!!!
Edit: I found some free apps that set LCD resolution. Works like a charm. Apparently the build.prop has been modified in this ROM to have lower density (it should be finer but lower number in the file. Strange)
And has anyone still active in this thread?Last edited by dukja; 06 June 2012, 17:19.

Notification icons disappearing
Another strange things about the custom 3.4 ROM is that the wifi icon sometimes disappear (even though I still got wifi). I also use the badass battery and its icon also disappear.
And I still didn't get Titanium Backup to work. And one has suggestion?
Thanks!

Mixed feeling
I had mixed feeling about this custom rom. The eliminated bloatware and addition of Google Market are nice, so is the rooting. However, I have never been able to make Titanium Backup work with it (complain something about sh). The resolution has been changed, which may cause some apps that I used to be able to download now incompatible.
Such incompatibility is the most frustrating thing. Because of it, I have to fiddle with the build.prop file and that caused my stock tablet trapped in boot loop in the first place.

No Beeps!
I've flashed various things over the years but not able to flash this guy. I've got the PMID710C trying to put the Android 4.0 on it. I've used the Live Suite program downloaded from this forum post and from the Southern Telecom page. I'm trying to flash it using an old Asus eeePC cause that's the only Windows computer I have right now.
I shut off the tablet. Hold down the second from the bottom menu key and plug in the USB cable. I hear windows beep 3 times but I don't hear any beeps from the tablet. Live Suite also does not react at all. I've tried holding the button down for over a minute.
After that the table will not startup until I hit the reset button on the back.
Any hints as to why I can't get Live Suite to recognize my tablet?
Thanks for your help.

I found my problem to be the drivers. Haven't used windows xp in so many years forgot about the device manager! HA!
I got ICS installed with the image file from ST. Yay!
this thread helped a lot and I used the USB drivers linked there: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/2849...e-and-for-all/
