Have you tried the TWRP Recovery I included in the ROM? It uses touch screen.

wow thank you for personally responding to my concern. well yeah i think thats the one included in your current rom right? apparently, say for instance i screw up my whole device, like fully bricked, boot loop. is there a way to run recovery mode and/or flashboot mode without any key combination? cause again my hardware key vol+ vol- and cancel button is already dead. the only button that works is the power button.

PS: i really love flashing your roms in this device so its unfortunate that i have to be very careful when flashing or just stop flashing at all.

I hate to say this, but in tablet years...like dog years....your device is getting pretty old.

It's not just Chinese devices...all technology progresses so much from year to year that support for "last year's model" sometimes doesn't even last for a whole year anymore. Cell phones are in the same boat. Once a new line of models is introduced, the factory changes focus to the new products and stops support for the older ones. Pipo seems to support their products a lot longer...but there are limits. Whereas, companies like Freelander, for instance, only post one firmware update and stop support entirely as soon as the next product hits the market. There may be one or two deal breaking bugs, that NEVER get resolved before support is discontinued. That's a shame that a factory's goal isn't to finish their work on a firmware before just giving up.

Your focus should be on getting your device set up and running the way you like it, and stand where your at with it. I wouldn't risk messing it up with installing a questionable app or flashing an untested ROM. I don't anticipate any future releases for the M6...so this 2.0 ROM is probably the last. Just use it till it quits, and be thinking about an upgrade whenever it does. Remember, there are ways to get your device back...even if you can't get into recovery. It does involve opening the case and shorting some pins on the NAND chip to get into Mask Mode. You can then flash a whole new ROM and then restore everything from your external SD. There is a thread in the Main Pipo Forum (sticky) that shows it on the M6 Pro...which has a similar design. I would try that, if you need to, before you totally pronounce the tablet dead.

You would think that with the 3288's and MTK Octa-core tablets coming out, that the prices of the 3188's would start falling. That isn't the way it goes, though. I still see older Pipo 3066 tablets sold online for the same prices they had when they were new...sometimes higher than their newer successors. Same with the 3188's that are a year old. You would think that these warehouses would like to empty out all of their old products and have some better deals. I could use a few of the older models to test and make improvements on discontinued products...but at those original prices, it isn't feasible.

This model...the M6 as well as the original M9 were basically prototypes. They were only produced for a short period of time before the higher resolution screens showed up in the Pro models that replaced them. They have the 3188 proc, but were using the same other internal parts/screens as the 3066 models...so they were very solid tablets. Except for the stereo speaker balance problem, and a wifi issue or two, there were very few complaints about the M6. As these tablets get over a year of use, however, things like external keys...battery charging...USB ports and HDMI ports are getting worn out. That's what has happened to a few of my oldest tablets...they just go until all of a sudden, they don't go anymore.

The good news is that I am seeing improvement in design. The newer devices seem more solid and hopefully will last longer.

          Good luck with your M6!!!!!!!

            Feedback

I would to leave my feedback on this great rom. Just installed it as described on the detailed instructions and to my surprise the performance became what I would like since the beginning. I did installed the updated kernel v4.1.

Tablet is performing really nice, no lag at all and antutu reported 19k plus.
It's nice to finally have the feeling that I have now a full working device.

This thanks to the developers working on freaktab, specialy to Riley for his commitment to our device.
            Regards, Pedro

yeah,im aware that technology today is moving really fast. i haven't even heard of that new octa core device. i feel sad for my old gadgets.
actually, among the few who complained was me. i've had a lot of issues with this device since the day i received it. First i had this visible screen dirt inside the device. then like a few months later the speaker sounded distorted i had to send i back for repair, next the charging port(the pin) was pushed inside the device(the solder went off). so i soldered it myself, then when i was attaching back the board to the lcd flex wire it shorted, the brightness went very dim, sent it back again, and now the buttons.. maybe im just unlucky. thank you for wishing me luck. i appreciate it. and your ROMs are great. didnt have any major issues with it.

so i think im just gonna have to stick to your advice. after all i dont have much of a choice, i've read about the nand chip shorting trick but its just to risky for me. im not a dev of some sort. im just an ordinary flashaholic who loves flashing roms and collecting flashlights.
again thank you for your roms and advice.

I didn't think the M6 Max had GPS. I thought that didn't appear until the M6 Pro.

Oh yes, have gps because it was working fine.

Just get the M6 yesterday. Maybe used the wrong Rom. On the Box shows (Max-M6 Pro 3G) and on the back M6 pro .

Will try the Rom for M6 pro.

                      Sorry, my fault

All links are down. We are working on the problem, but it may take a couple of days.

                              h.264 support is broken

Thank you for this rom. But i am not able to watch Instagram, Vine and spme ingame videos(Asphalt 8 menu background animations etc). In instagram and vine videos, there is a black screen and no problen in sound.

As far as i know this tablet supports mp4 and h264 videos, i installed some Arm 7 neon codes but nothing changed. And i remember(not sure) that stock rom has no problems with them.

Do you experience the same issue?

Btw as i see, the tablets lags comes from mostly syncing, checking updates and receiving push notifications. Also auto updates are killers. I've disabled sync, checking updates but browser related lags still annoying.

I will try overclocked kernel. Tried frontier's rom, that sees good for the beginning, but have the same video issue and also i will give a try to Riley's other roms i.e. 1.3.

Wish to see a new rom. I will send a -desperate- email to Pipo

                              Thanks again Riley
                              Hi,

I've contacted Pipo support on August and Anna sent me the latest rom which was M6_update_20131227.zip This rom also had the h.264 video support issue, Instagram, Vine and other videos cannot be played with this rom...
You may test h.264 videos on this address http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/gr...t/default.html
                              .
This device was a bad mistake and experience for me. It is impossible to have the device responding for 10 minutes after start. It is clear that there is an issue about syncing. Also the lags are annoying... QA of a product is a serious issue and Pipo was a total disappointment for me.

Pipo says this device is old for now and not be supported. I've asked them to before, when this device was not old... It was obvious that a fresh install is fluent but if you install 3-4 apps, then it starts the lags...

Anyway, i hope that your efforts in this project will help people. If you'll add Pipo m6 Max in this project, the only thing that i can help is making a small donation.

                              Best regards,

Are you running Dalvik or ART? There are problems with ART in these KK ROM's.

Otherwise, I think this current ROM seems to be the most stable at the moment.

Yes, we are working on firmware updates for these RK3188 Pipo's...but it will take some time. I hope you will be patient. Right now we only have sources for the M8HD.
