I have successfully installed and used OpenVPN. I use the OpenVPN Installer to get the binary installed. I can connect to my home network with no problem using KK.

The trouble with that is that not everyone uses ART. I think that if a user wishes to use the ART feature...and understands it's pros and cons....they can make that update themselves. Sorry, just thinking big picture, here.

If you can go into more detail on how you did it...others will benefit.

After all, the idea of flashing custom ROMs is to allow you to make your own tweaks....right?

It's only ART compatible not exclusive, I switched back to Dalvik and still works. I used a light version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2608800 but there would be a more complete version available. Just need to install zip from TWRP so easy for end user but may want to wait for a more stable version of TWRP.

Sorry, my bad...I didn't think about that.

I will release the final version Sunday as soon as I gather all the needed parts...like the Gapps update. And a cool new boot animation.

Thanks Randy, there's a lot of good things in latest release with working GPS, newer kernel, ability to charge without booting android and progress on TWRP.

Rockchip devices are almost impossible to permanently brick, but you have to be willing to open the back and short some pins on your NAND chip to get into Mask Mode to restore the previous working ROM. That's enough to scare some people off of such experimentation.

Just realize that there are many combinations of wifi chips, touch screens, bluetooth, GPS receivers, displays, gyro's....everything has it's own required driver to operate. While some of the drivers are in the system.img file and can be ported over...there are several devices with drivers embedded in the kernel.

Whatever you do, you must use the kernel for the device you have...

If you luck out, and get the tablet to boot with the other firmware, then you have to track down all of the individual components to get working...and then, when you are done...you may have half of each ROM as the result.

Oma makes some pretty decent ported ROM's that are based on other devices' firmware...but this process is very time consuming...and you must have the tablet to test it on. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. Very meticulous.

Today, I'm working on v1.8 for the M6 Pro. I'll be testing it, but I know that everything is designed to work on the M6 Pro. I'm confident that when I'm finished it will be reliable. That's why I stick with official factory firmware. Since I started cooking ROM's, yes...I have attempted several times to port other ROM's over to Pipo devices...and so far, I've only been able to get ONE to work...and only after some extensive help from Finless Bob.
              Hi,

first of all, thank you very much for spending so much time helping others!!!

You must be a very good person!

I flashed IFIVE 2S hd 4.4 rom which is similar to my Yuandao N90 FHDRK 9.7" 3188 retina Tablet and the result was only a logo...black screen....logo...infinite loop !

So I then flashed yours ! It boots up till the lock screen but the touchpad is all messed up! There's a huge gap from where I press and where it responds!

So, so far, I can't try any KIT KAT roms...

Thanks again for all your work...makes me think that buying a Pipo tab for a future one should be a option to seriously consider, as I am very interested in next 3288 Rockchip SOC.

Did you flash my iFive 2S ROM? It's in the iFive section.

OK, I took Billcnz's advise and updated the gapps to ones compatible with ART.

I'm uploading a final version of v1.8 right now.

It has all of the same features of the beta with a new boot animation/default wallpaper, and those ART compatible Gapps. The same version of TWRP will be installed. It works fine, but has a few UI glitches. As soon as Abdul_pt gets this ironed out, I'll post an update.

As soon as the new version is uploaded, I will post a link here and start a new thread.

                      can't get out of TWRP

                      Edit:
I am blind: the solution is marked in the first post of the 1.8 final thread. Sorry!

I installed a wonderful 1.8 beta, thanks, it's running very smoothly.
BUT: I just did a backup in the recovery and can't get it back to boot the system (or the bootloader).
It does power off, but whatever I try to boot, TWRP will come back.
I have NOT tried the final version, as rileyrom writes TWRP is identical.

What can I do to get the system running now?
What do I need to do, to avoid this problem next time?
And: can I update to the final version or is this always over backup-restore?

                      Thanks for your advice!!

                          no google contacts

not sure, if this is ROM related...

I don't have any contacts, everything else related to google works fine (store, email, calendar) but my phone book is empty and sync is ON.
I tried another app which supports own connection to google (contacts+), the same.

Does anyone know where to search?

                          Thanks! Simon

No, I haven't. 'm a bit afraid of loosing all settings again. Last Titanium backup didn't work somehow...
But, if you think it could be the reason, then I'll go for it :-)

Thanks a lot, I am very grateful for this ROM!

                                problem with m6 pro

                                Hi guys,

I have a serious problem with my new pipo m6 pro tablet.
I missed the following instruction: "You MUST flash the RK3188Loader(L)_V2.08.bin the first time you flash this ROM".
So at the first time, I don't know how but if uncheked the
                                RK3188Loader(L)_V2.08.bin in the flash tool.
Now I can not turn on the tablet.
Do you have any idea what can I do now?

                                Thanks for your help!
