    R: Pipo M6 Pro RileyROM 1.7 KitKat

    Thx Randy!
Let's try it even if without 3G...

It's running pretty good for a pre release test ROM. I think they still need to do some fine tuning with the graphics scrolling performance as scrolling a web page in chrome is actually a bit rougher than the previous ROM. It's good enough though that I will probably stick with it until the official release.

I second that. Its running quite well but definitely needs a little polish in the area of scrolling. I will continue to use it as a daily driver. I switched the runtime from davlik to ART and all is functioning nicely. Great to see KK on the M6 Pro. 😀

Enjoying 1.6 way to much right now. I will give 1.7 a try, but will definitely go back to 1.6 until all is smooth.

I just need a little help understanding Randy's first post:

"1. You MUST flash the RK3188Loader(L)_V2.08.bin the first time you flash this ROM. KitKat requires this new loader to run. If you choose to go back to Jellybean...you MUST flash the loader for that ROM. The loaders aren't interchangeable."

Do you mean that I must first flash the "
DS977_3188_4.4_20140103.rar -> update.img" file using the RKBatchTool.exe tool and then do the normal flash for 1.7?

Sorry, just making sure I follow. Thanks

When you launch the Finless Flash tool, you will see a list of the elements that are flashed. The very top selection is the loader. It is checked by default. DON'T UNCHECK IT.

The reason I say this is that with Jellybean ROM's, the loader was usually the same between ROM's, and it wasn't necessary to flash the loader...so it was unchecked by default.

What I'm saying is that you MUST flash the loader...with THIS ROM. You don't have to flash any other firmware first...all you need is in the ROM kit.

                Thanks for this Randy.

I think this one is actually made for the the M6 though not the M6 Pro.

But aside from 3G and no GPS function is everything else identical to the specs of the M6 Pro?

                Thanks so much again

Thanks for the tip. For those who haven't found it it's at Developer Options - Runtime and set to use ART. It will reboot and optimise apps. Antutu now 19500 with no over clock!

I noticed with Rayman Fiesta Run and Inotia 4 that there is an echo effect with the sound. It happens under both Davlik and ART runtime so it isn't the runtime that is causing it. This echo effect doesn't happen with Aces of the Luftwaffe and Zenonia 3 so it seems that some games aren't playing nice with KitKat on this tablet. I know this is all new so I don't expect perfection out of the gates. I also know that this rom was made for the M6 and not the M6 Pro which might be a factor (not sure what the difference is between the 2 tablets internally). Anyway, I am putting this out there just to see if anyone is experiencing the same issues. All else seem okay (except for the other known issues, of course).

                        cwm

The cmw is not compatible with kitkat just tried to make a back up and it would not come out of recovery had to reflash everything again

                          Hi Randy

Do you think de have too wait a long time before GPS support ?

I think im just gonna wait until pipo officially bring out kitkat for the m6 pro. I think there will be far less problems then and it won't be so buggy.

Thanks for getting to this so quickly though.

If i were to flash my M9 Pro with the newly released firmware on pipo's website would it need different drivers to the M6 Pro? Or can i connect it like i would the M6 Pro and flash it without the need to install certain drivers for the m9 pro?

                            Thanks guys

Providing an alternative way to download ROMs

Brilliant stuff, I've installed it with no problems. Additionally, I've enabled ART instead of Dalvik and the thing is pretty smooth!

One thought I had was on providing updates and mirrors for new ROMs. I've recently taken to the use of BTSync as a way of providing mirrors of big files. All you'd have to do is provide a secret key for the ROM and then anyone else sharing that would become peers and host it as well. Just a thought.

I made some comments here if anyone is interested:
Overview A version of RileyRom (1.7) has been released over on Freaktab.com  which brings Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the 9.7" retina tablet. ...

This ROM is based on firmware provided by manao in the 1.6 thread, post #54.

I have tested this ROM to the point that I know that it boots, and is rooted. Wifi works. I have not encountered any problems with installing and running apps after a Titanium restore. So, I'm ready for you guys to take this for a spin.

                              IMPORTANT FACTS

                              1. You MUST flash the RK3188Loader(L)_V2.08.bin the first time you flash this ROM. KitKat requires this new loader to run. If you choose to go back to Jellybean...you MUST flash the loader for that ROM. The loaders aren't interchangeable.

                              2. NONE of the files in a KitKat ROM are backward compatible with Jellybean files...so you can't use an OC kernel from my Jellybean ROM with this ROM, or you will not boot.

This ROM has all of the features of 1.6:

                              Rooted
                              Not much to debloat
                              Init.d support
                              Busybox support
                              English Language
                              Google Play Store fixes
                              VPN support
                              2, 4, 6, 8, 12gb user app space choices (default 4gb)
                              Multi-user support turned on
                              Latest Reboot app by Petrus
                              Boot Animation by Tattman65
                              Updated First Time User's Guide
RkBatchTool included as an alternate way to "switch" to flash mode
                              New RK Driver Installer app

                              Enjoy!!!!!!

help for Pipo M6 pro vers. 3g

: CLAPRrileypm Hello, I'm new and I make so many compliments on your site.
I have a problem how to load the rom with your system, could you explain me how to do step by step?
I've always used the similar file update_M6_3G_20130814.img which is very simple to load in my Pipo M6 Pro vers. 3g.
I do not understand how to do with your system.
Thank you in advance, I await your response
                                Thanks: CLAP
