My unit is still freezing regularly. It's getting to the point of being very frustrating because it is very unpredictable.

All I'm after its a stable unit that plays videos stutter-free. It seems that with this thing you can have one if you sacrifice the other.

This firmware plays video beautifully, but crashes too regularly.

Other firmwares are super-stable, but the video is unwatchable. Why I'd this the case?
it seems a bug in kernel which causes ramdom crashes. I uploaded new kernel which should fix this problem.
Please flash this new kernel and let me know if this issue is gone.

    download url for new kernel:

I used the rkbatch tool that was bundled with other firmwares I've tried in the past. Not sure if that is correct though.

Wasser, can you advise what kernel version should be displayed in the settings screen so I can confirm that the flash worked correctly?

I have had a lockup since flashing the new kernel, so it seems it is still happening, but I am unsure if the flash worked correctly.

It may also be that my particular set up is causing the lockups, or I simply have a dud unit.

Is there a way to determine if an app or setting is the cause?

Thanks, I asked because Kit Kat has a new loader and I don't know if it effects kernel flashing.

You know I think you are right. I seem to recall that a previous KitKat rom I tried required a different version of the flash tool. I'll go back though my files and see if I can find it...

BTW it just crashed again. The date of the kernel shows as having been created early May (4th I think). I think the new kernel failed to flash properly. I'll try again and report back.

                          Update:

The kernel version installed on my unit is dated 2 May 2014. It is shown on the "About" page as follows:
                          Kernel Version
                          3.0.36+

Can you check if yours is the same?

I think the updated kernel posted by wasser must not be loading properly (unlesss he kept the date the same...)

Have you not flashed the wasser 4.4.2 kitkat rom at all or are you referring only to the "updated" kernel?

Haven't flashed yet as I see issues reported. My current setup works and my wife would kill me if it didn't. Looking forward to it though
