Just to keep everyone in the picture:

The CPU limitation is straightforward. A simple cap that can be moved up/down based on a simple test to see if the CPU is a 'T'.

The RAM change is harder to read, I think it may be switching to a second struct (hence this first test). The GPU is really hard to follow and I'll try to unpick that today. Both of these are triggered by the 'leakage' level. From what little I've seen so far 'real' RK3188 chips have a leakage level of 0 or next to 0. T chips have higher levels. Leakage is effectively a limitation on the voltage that can be applied over transistors placed incredibly close to each other (28nm!).

So what is happening is the code assesses the leakage level and then backs off the voltages and frequencies to ensure stability.

This code wasn't needed when the RK3188 chips sold all had no leakage problems at the expected operating voltages/frequencies.

1.6 override with lower voltage for really unstable T chips
      1.7 override
      1.8 override

      Remove - see later post

Now I got something new with 1.6 lower kernel.
The finless ROM does not loop with the moving bootanimation on the screen. The bootlanimation disappears after ca. 3 seconds and I got stripes over the screen from up and down - that looks like freezing.

        Next kernel test......

        JDfense

        Edit
        1.5 Kernel RAM
        same as the lower kernel
        ...
        1.7 and 1.8
did the same too, but I could notice, that the 1.8 Kernel is very fast from the bootanimation in the freezing stripes.

d33, could you make for control a T-kernel with 1.4 standard value to see, if this kernel would run in the specifications of the T-Model or not.

This time no freezing, only looping with

              Kernel_ap6210_1080 and 720

              on cs968

              What was the clocking?

Hm, my cs968 was getting warm after some minutes, but before it freezes with overclocking.

It sounds like a small progress for me. If I could get the logcat, but I see no choice, the boot process was not far enough.

Are we lost or does my report help you?

Well, this thread is aimed at getting around the coded restrictions for T-chips and I'm hoping that I'll get feedback from T-Chip owners to help me.

I have no idea why you can't boot even the standard build kernels.

Okay then, thank you very much d33 for your trial and loosing so much time for this. It is frustrating.

I have enough of the Rockshit Model T. I take a break from Rockship devices.

                        Time for Allwinner A31.

                          Hi All,

Wondering if there is a consensus on how to fix this flickering issue ? I bought MK908ii (RK3188T) and getting alot of on-off screen.

                          Thanks,

I think the ainol spark is a very good one but sold out. I would recommend a really nice cheapo with a very good screen, the colorfly e708 q1. It has only one weak point, the battery. After 3 hours using, you need for sure a full loading.

I want to add some thoughts, why I'm out with the model T. My cs968 works fast enough for me, because I don't use apps like xmbc. The regular TV-Boxes user like to use this app and in this case it is my impression, you need the 1.6 Ghz rk3188 for the perfect video performance at 1080p. So I can't improve a rom enough.
