I went ahead and tried it after talking with NextBook tech support stating it was the fix for Netflix and not being able to interface with the UI. I asked about the name, Next7P-12 and the tech stated that this would work just fine with my model, the Next7S. Downloaded the update.img file, saved it to root directory on internal memory and basically followed the instructions and nothing happened. I then called Tech support again, got a hold of a different person and they said it was not for the Next7S but instead was for the Next7P-12 which is the SE I believe. The tech stated they are still working on the one for the Next7S.

Bummer.

The update was over 300mb, which makes me think it wipes everything clean and starts fresh with the fix. Why else would this "update" be 300mb if not to hold the entire OS on it.

I got this little sucker at Big Lots today for $89 seems like a great deal especially since you rooted it for us Bob thanks a bunch buddy you really made my day Sir! I notice a lot of apps say aren't compatible with this version is there a way to fix this? No big deal just checking. Thanks again Bud very much appreciated.

Forced touch calibration after battery power loss.

Is anyone experiencing forced touch calibration after the battery runs dry? If I power down the tablet manually and boot it back up there is no touch calibration. However if the battery runs dry which forces the tablet to shutdown, then I plug in the power adapter which turns the tablet back on automatically, I am presented with the touch calibration.

Unfortunatly that is life with a resistive screen. If it does not feel it was powered down right it forces calibration next boot.

Interesting. Well I decided to test a theory of mine for testing purposes and which goes against my logic and freeze the calibration system file using System Tuner Pro. My theory was that the calibrations are already saved and there is no reason to have to re-calibrate just because of an improper shutdown. It would be as if Windows was improperly shutdown that I would have to reconfigure my background. This information should be saved in a config file somewhere and that the being forced to have to re-calibrate after an improper shutdown is pointless. So I tested my theory.

I first reset my tablet with the pinhole BEFORE freezing calibration. Turned my tablet back on and was presented with calibration. Second time I FROZE calibration, reset with pinhole and turned the tablet on. After that weird things happened. First all my touches were mirrored. Luckily I had "show pointer" on in settings so I knew where my pointer was actually registering on the screen and they were not where I was touching. Then the bootloader image appeared for a couple seconds like it was rebooting but it didn't which was odd. I was able to eventually boil calibration, reboot and everything was back to normal with the lovely calibration screen.

So apparently the calibration config file gets deleted, reset or whatever when the tablet gets improperly shutdown. So bottom line just don't mess with the calibration. Yeah its stupid but it beats the alternative.

Go Launcher not autoloading upon boot

I just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone else is having this issue. I wanted to use a different launcher, Go Launcher to be exact. I made it my default launcher. However every time when I rebooted my device I would always get a black home screen and when I touched the home button Go Launcher would then appear. I figured the stock launcher and Go Launcher were fighting resulting in no home screen loading. So I froze the stock launcher, rebooted and problem solved. I have not tested if this happens with other launchers but I assume freezing the stock launcher will produce similar results.

Its Not Working

I download this this morning when it gets to erasing IDB its just sitting there for about a hour now nothing happening

ok i pressed run now it on start to download IDB thats it been on that for about 30 min now

Try putting it into recovery again. Select the loader at the top of the flash screen . Click erase Idb that should complete in about 30 seconds. Than click run to flash

I presume when you are on the flash screen it says found rk android at the bottom
