I don't think so. Loader is flashed every time you flash RKFW ROM as a single image. I'm using rockchip linux tool and can prove it as it's visible in terminal window. When upgrading entire ROM first IDB is formatted then loader is flashed and then ROM. From the other side there is a risk of damage while flashing single partitions. There are pros and cons in each method of flashing. I prefer to flash entire ROM image when there are major changes and single partitions for minor e.g. flashing overclocked kernel, or system.img with some updates. Of course, there is no need flashing loader in such cases.

Thanks for the ROM. It runs smoothly other than the Wi-Fi which mostly can't connect at all after the device is waking up from a sleep (I'm using kernel_cpu1416h_gpu600_ddr720.img).
        Any hint? Thanks.

thehobit, have you tried first with stock kernel? Most people with unlucky CPU confirm that WiFI is more stable with 1416 kernel too. Probably, you have a hardware case and have to open and fix WiFi antenna.

Check your router settings...and maybe try a different channel. You may also have the dreaded wifi antenna problem with the solder connections shorted.

Guys, i've been using katsy ROM for awhile for this tab now and im planning to use this ROM now(as far as I've seen, this the most stable Kitkat ROM as far as comments show). Do I need to flash to stock ROM first before flashing this ROM?

              Thanks!

Everything depends on what is the stock ROM in your opinion, Anyway, if current/most recent ROM was JB and new one KK, i'll flash entire ROM first.

                  Hey charczstrife,

no, you don´t have to go back to stock ROM but read always thread 1 posted by Randy just to make sure you don´t act to easily flashing any ROMs. Have fun with that really good ROM compiled by Randy.

                  Cheers,
                  Franky

actually, there's a katsy rom with this firmware already.

You don't have to flash the stock ROM before flashing a custom ROM. I don't know where that thinking was ever started, it just isn't necessary. But you do need to do your homework first. Make sure you flash the loader along with the ROM if you are flashing a KitKat ROM. In this case, Pipo updated the loader, too...so I advise flashing the new loader with this ROM.

                          Hey,
could you please upload the ROM somewhere else? The actual mirror restarts all the time :/

Thanks, my HW is marginal in some aspects, what I did is to take the kernel of 2.6 (kernel_cpu1416h_gpu600_ddr720.img) which proved to be stable, and it did resolve the issue.
I'm not sure its smart to mix but so far so good.
