We need a standard checklist anytime a new device is being reviewed that way there isnt a million random questions and answers sprinkled throughout the thread / subforum. Here are a few things that I consider important in testing a new device. If MINIX, Geekbuying or anyone else can answer these questions then it should give a decent overview of the performance in comparison with other s89 devices (which is where most of all of these bugs were pulled from).
Networking:
(1) Ethernet speeds - What are they in comparison with other devices on the same LAN?
(2) 2.4ghz / 5ghz speeds - What is the range? what are the speeds in comparison with other devices on the same WLAN?
(3) Bluetooth - What is the range? Are devices remembered after a reboot?
(4) Mac addresses for Wifi / Eth / Bluetooth - Do they retain the same address after a reboot?
(5) NFS and CIFS protocols - Are they supported? do shares mount correctly? - Confirmed these protocols are not working with current MINIX kernel.
GUI:
(6) Brightness of display - Is it adjustable? is it hard coded? if so, is it within normal range or too dark / light?
(7) Orientation - Do all apps force to landscape or do we have the portrait bug doing its dance?
Video / Audio:
(8) Audio pass through - MX player, XBMC and stock video player is it working? which formats are being decoded correctly?
(9) Netflix quality - Is it HD? Does it support dts? - Confirmed Netflix playback is ONLY in SD (appears to be an issue w/ Netflix and not the device itself)
(10) Resolution / Refresh rate / FPS - Is video playback smooth with all resolutions / refresh rates? Does video playback smooth @ 1080/24 on a 50 or 60hz TV? Are we seeing dropped frames?
(11) File formats - MP4, AVI, MKV AND ISO/3D ISO? (How do these play w/ Amcodec enabled? I know there are many other factors involved but a basic test should be sufficient)
Hardware:
(12) USB Storage - Which FS are supported out of the box?
(13) LED - Does the devices led remain on even after the unit is shutdown / is it too bright?
(14) Standby - Does box wake itself from standby automatically?
(15) Keyboard - Which air mouses / keyboards are confirmed working with functioning key layout?
(16) Heat test - Run a slot machine game (or really any other CPU/GPU intensive app) for 10 minutes straight and check temp by hand - is it cool? is it warm? has performance been effected?
(17) HDMI input / output - Does video cut out randomly or not display at all after a certain period of time / moving the cable?
(18) Webcams - Does it support webcams? if so, which models have been tested and are proven to be working?
(19) Power consumption - What is it during idle / load? Is it steady or do we see spikes?
Software:
(20) CPU frequency - What is minimum? Does it scale correctly if rooted? - Kernel is confirmed to still have a min frequency of 24mhz
(21) Kernel - Is it still meant for a smart phone or has it been optimized for ATVs? -- Kernel is confirmed to still be optimized for a smart phone and not ATV's
(22) Flash video - Does firefox work properly with flash?
(23) Date and time - Are they able to be changed to areas outside of china? Does it retain this settings change after a reboot?
(24) Paid apps - Can you purchase or install paid / previously paid for application?
Feel free to add anything else you can think of guys. If we can get the list up to 25 questions we can assign each question a weight of 1-4 and try and get a rough estimate of where it lands on a scale of 1-100.Last edited by alwaysbless; 01 June 2014, 18:26.

That is a great list to use a reference. Fos consistency sake, what slot machine program are you using? Does it have a good attract mode so it can run without interaction? Thanks.

Also if this is directed only at Minix? My thoughts are if you want to really make this work a new post with device reports by name.
