    Minix Neo X8 or X8-H?

I'm looking to buy a few X8 but I can't decide whether I should buy the standard version or X8-H. I know the differences between the two but what I don't know if the H would be more valuable for what I'm looking to achieve. The device's main use would be for multimedia access [XBMC video addons, Netflix, and HBO Go (if it works)]. I don't see myself doing any gaming.

Does anyone know within XBMC if the H uses its hardware to decode Dolby or does it revert to software decoding?

What's the advantage of hardware decoding if I'll mainly use XBMC? Does software decoding negatively effect performance compared to hardware decoding?

Finally if I don't intend to download many apps what would be the value of having 8 GB of additional internal storage? I take it almost all multimedia collections would have to stored on external storage anyone.

Dude... You get the m1 air nouse with the H. It worth 25$. I think it is a better deal. You will probably buy an air mouse too so it will cost almost the same so why not have the better hardware?

I was thinking to buy it,but there is no H.265 support.I dont want in next month to spend money on another box with h.265.Now i want to buy new box which i will not changed for long period of time.
This boxes are cheaper then pc ,but what i have learned from past,it is thet we must to buy new andoroid box for every 6 month.Besides thet all files which works on dual core with mali mp2 ,works same on quad core with mali mp4.Only diff is on games ,but for games i will use playstation or xbox.XBMC with MX player works on all platforms with HW decoding.MX player is better thet default xbmc player in every way.
In next month we will have octa cores and then another box to buy,no wayyyyyy. Then later this year we will have Intel based android boxes, and again to buy new boxes,,,,no wayyyy.

I have now more then 6 android boxes:Allwinner A20,A31,RK3066, and all works fine ,just fine.Lowest Mali MP2 is just fine for all movies i have and for XBMC,IPTV......

I think it doesn't matter which version if you're going to passthrough to your amplifier.
You probably need H if you don't have a home theater system, or you need to run apps. that require the DD or DTS thing, which is rare.

ididid I thought about that but the m1 air mouse doesn't have a keyboard .. I'm using the Rii k25a (http://www.riitek.com/product_Info.asp?id=102) with my Tronsmart S89-H and find myself flipping over the remote constantly for the keyboard. If the X8 is compatible with the K25a I'll spend another $33 anyway for an extra remote.

With this sort of logic, you'll never buy anything because there will ALWAYS be something newer, faster and with more features right around the corner. Ok, so the X8-H doesn't support h.265. Neither does my WDTV. When Minix releases something based on the S812, AND I need a box that can decode h.265, I'll sell one of my X8-H's and upgrade. But as things are right now, I have absolutely no need for a box that can handle h.265 because I don't have any h.265 video nor do I have a 4K TV.

New boxes are released every what, 6 months? Don't stand on the sidelines, have fun with existing technology and when the time comes, sell it and upgrade.

You say you have 6 Android boxes and they all work fine....... then keep using them. My Minix X7 works just as good today as it did when I bought it a few months ago. I am giving up on cable TV and will use XBMC to consume content and just needed a box for each TV in my house so I bought 3 of them.

                    Yes

Problem is in Minix ,which will offer all same with H.265 in next 2 or 3 month.

H.265 will become important when the mainstream user has both hardware and software support which is going to take a couple of years.

i don't know which is more exciting

1 - Before receiving the package
                              2 - After receiving it

i think before having the (toy) between our hand we dream about it and what we can do with it, what new think that we can do, what performance etc. But when we receive the package after some days (sometime after some hours) the excitement is gone. the new equipment become something that we know very well and became an ordinary think.

what we don't know or don't have is more exciting that something we have or we know.

I'm waiting (with impatience) that moment when i will receive my package and in the same time i fear it because it will lose his magic.

I've got mine today: 48 HOURS FROM HK TO SPAIN. ******* AWESOME!

I've never seen something like that and I've been shopping online for 15 years. Unbelievable.

DHL, of course. Almost forget to mention. XD
