Downloaded and flashed. So far everything seems to be working nicely, but I'll dig deeper tomorrow, time for bed.

I'm about to turn in also... I'll give the testers until tomorrow to respond and hopefully post it publicly tomorrow night.

Apparently none of my issues were/are caused the stock update. Downloaded and flashed the new update then erased sd card but at this point everything seems the same.

I still have reinstall several programs everytime i power off and on.They still appear in the dowloaded apps list but no icons are to be found.

Still get unable to move app when trying to move app to sd card from apps/sdcard screen in settings.

That is all I have found at the moment.

I'm installing now. For some reason I couldn't get it to boot from the rktool. So reflashed stock image and recovery. It's installing as we speak via stock recovery. Let you know how it runs after some testing

Ill test, have a stock 4.4.2 with nothing important on it

I'll also take my chances with the ROM, if something fails, I still have the virgin stock image to fall back on, plus I can probably do a backup of anything important first.

It sounds to me like your external sd card might have some leftover files in the android folder, might also be in the data folder of the external sd. If you don't have anything important stored on it, format your external sd card, otherwise try deleting those folders manually.

This is a known issue with the official update. (At least when updating from 4.2.2) I'll have to note this in the instructions.

Here is a thread about it:

                          More New Nextbooks

I just saw this on Wal Mart.com:

Looks like new versions of the NX785QC8G, pre-loaded with KK 4.4.2, in various colors can be found in stores only for $80.

I haven't actually seen one, so I am not sure if there are any other hardware changes.

If someone picks up a color one, let me know.

I have a red one, actually got it on sale for $79 back in July. It seems to be exact same hardware, with 4.4.2 pre-loaded. Perhaps the colored backs were added as a back-to-school attraction......

I've loaded your rom, and Oma's rom. Both have run fine for me with just one annoying issue -- the abrupt shutdown when the battery reaches a low point. There is no early warning, just a flash of a shutdown message and it's gone! Sure hope something can be done about that....

I haven't found a way to display battery % in the notification line, yet the battery icon shows plenty of juice left when the shutdown occurs.

To ShaunMT, thank you for working on this tablet!! Hope you can figure out the proper update commands/scripts to make this one easier to update/flash.

Nice to know the hardware is the same or at least compatible...

The battery icon shows plenty of juice becuase the battery reading is incorrect. The battery really is dead, but Android doesn't know it. That's why the low battery warning doesn't come on.

Unfortunately this seems to be a problem located in Google's code... The Nexus 7 has the same the issue.

There also seem to be bugs in Rockchip's modifications to the stock Android recovery to support their update.img format... no matter what I try, I can not get it to properly wipe /data, /cache or /sdcard when installing a rockchip style update.img.

I've temporarily given up... I'm going to focus on getting TWRP working and then port Rockchip's update.img code to TWRP and fix it so it works correctly.

Does anyone know of a good case for this tablet? Would a iPad Mini case work?
