    Bricked M9 Max

I have an M9 Pro (mine) and an M9 Max (wife).

Recently the Max was shutting down as soon as it was turned on. We thought it was the battery, so I bought and installed a new battery. However, after installing the battery and charging it, the problem was the same.
If I reset (paper clip) the tablet, the RileyROM and boot screen would come on then it turns itself off.

I have tried to fix the issue by re-flashing with 2.5.3 (currently on 2.1). I can get the flashing tool to recognise the Max by using the ESC/RESET/POWER 5 second combination, and can erase the IDB (erased the IDB 4 times, just to be sure).
However, when I click on "Reboot to Flash Mode", I get the message :
"Device can not do switch, because it is not MSC device". The Max screen is black.

Anyone seen this before? Or have any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Randy, thanks a bunch. I too haven't found any solutions online thus far. Just sent Anna an email. We'll see how it goes...

Nordo, I've experienced the same (or a similar) issue a while back. In my case, it had to do with usb 3.0 ports. the problem went away when i switched to a usb 2.0 port.

It's a fairly old computer with 2.0 USB ports and Windows 7.
I've used it in the past to flash both the Max and the Pro.

Make sure you are using the USB cable that came with the tablet. The connector is longer to fit the case better. That's a very common cause of USB connection problems.

            Thanks Randy.

I am definitely using the original cable, which I have used for all my previous flashing and file transfers, etc. After going through the ESC/clip/POWER 5 second reset, the flashing tool recognises the tablet, but the error message comes up when I press "Reboot to Flash Mode".
Should I just go straight to "Flash the ROM" after erasing the IDB?
BTW, the tablet screen is black through all of this process.

In flash mode, the tablet will always stay black through the process.

If you are having trouble getting into flash mode, with the tablet off (press reset if you aren't sure)...hold the vol+ and press power. The flash tool should see the tablet in flash mode.

I've had problems flashing before (When I tried to flash the Max with one of your Pro ROMS ). That resolved itself once I used the correct ROM. But this times things are different.
I can only get the flashing tool to recognise the tablet when I have the power supply connected.

I have now tried to flash the ROM without trying to get into Flash Mode. The flash appeared to run all the way through, and the tablet's screen showed the tablet being formatted, etc.
Then the RileyROM shield comes on, then an icon of a battery being filled up, then black screen with the tablet apparently off. Tried to re-boot, but nothing.

I know I should be able to recover from this, but I'm not too sure how.
Perhaps one of my soldered battery connections is dodgy?
Although the tablet appeared to be playing up before I replaced the battery.

Guys, Anna finally replied to my e-mail. She claims that IMEI has nothing to do with 3G network...
Still, she asked me to provide my tablet's serial number and to identify the rom I've flashed.
Does anyone know pipo's warranty policy vis-a-vis flashing custom roms? My tablet is being repaired by the dealer in Spain, but I guess you can never know, right? Probably shouldn't take any chances...

Just give the date of the factory firmware this ROM is based on in post #1.

                      Hi
Just a follow-up on my problem.

The tablet is now up and running with RileyROM v2.5.3.
Not too sure what the problem was when we had the old battery installed, but the problem when the new battery was installed was my bad soldering.
I think the soldering iron has seen better days (also the solderer has also seen better days, but that's a different story ).

                        Camera not working

                        Hello,

I recently updated to the 2.5.3 ROM, all is fine except for the camera app
When I try to run the camera app, it closes instantly and gives me an error saying that Gallery failed to load

I used a different the 4gb partition size (renamed and replaced the default file with it)
Do I need to flash again or is there something I can do about it?

I would re-flash with the unmodified parameter size. If the camera works, but you still want to alter the parameter, then re-flash again with the modified parameter, making sure you have followed the modification to the parameter exactly.

                          Good luck.

The default parameter file is the same as the 4gb parameter. No need in doing that.

As far as camera goes, I think other people have had problems with the default camera app. Try using one of the free camera apps from Google Play Store and see if one of them will work.

It would be possible to have the new animated picture because I am starting with version 2.4 because version 2.5.3 for me made me meet recognition problem because my MicroSD.

                              Thank you to you

Are you wanting the newest bootanimation.zip? I can post it, if that's what you are asking about.

What is the format of your micro SD? You can try formatting it as NTFS and see if the problem persists on 2.5.
