I can't tell you much more as I am not an expert. What I told you is what worked for me. Perhaps I would try and erase the NAND many times until it correctly erases. I think I read in another forum that the erase might need 2 attempts. Other than that you will need to wait until Randy wakes up (still early morning in USA) and see if he has any other advice.

OK, guys...thanks for you patients. Yes, the current 2.5 ROM isn't operational. Stay Tuned for an update.

About your flashing problems...erasing IDB fails when you have a USB connection problem. Make sure you are using the same cable that came with the tablet. That is important, because the Pipo cables come with a longer micro USB plug to reach into the tablet's connector port more firmly.

Make sure you are not using a USB 3.0 port on your PC. The Rockchip drivers only support USB 2.0.

Stay tuned for a fix to the ROM.

Here is yet another troubleshooting chore for someone to try.

This is a revised kernel from the original ROM dump.

            Download

Unzip the kernel.img from this archive and place it in the RileyROM folder of the 2.5.1 ROM...and flash the whole ROM. It should boot, OK.

If that doesn't work, take the recovery.img from the 2.4 ROM and flash it, instead of the one from this ROM.

Tell me how that works. I can then put together a whole ROM kit with the fixes in place.

              Hello @rrileypm

I didn't tested your last kernel with the 2.5.1 FW but I flashed it on my RR 2.4 and it's ok.
              btw, the previous ones didn't!
              Now: #117 3.0.36+ dated 02.13.2014
2 hours now without any problems.
Working fine on my Pipo M9 Max bought in december 2013 (Goodix).
I'll test the complete 2.5.1 after the holiday.
Your misc.img is a clean one? no wipe?

Have a good easter and thanx for all your releases.

                Long-version

I downloaded and copied the new kernel into my 2.5.1 folder, ran flashing tool v1.37, erased NAND, flashed the ROM (2.5.1 plus new kernel), the flashing and re-checking went OK, the tablet automatically rebooted, the kernel logo came up, the new boot animation came up ("RileyRom", "Pipo M9 Max", "Freaktab.com" all with a spinning ellipse - I prefer this to the pulsating rings on 2.4), and then the welcome screen of a clean Android tablet came up.

One thing I noticed was that the first time I tried to reboot to flash mode the kernel logo came up and I had to wait for it to boot to the Android screen and then reboot to flash mode again. Not really a problem but I thought I'd just mention it.

Also as I was erasing the NAND I saw the following 2 lines

                INFO: Start to lower format
                INFO: Doing Lower format, Total(4096),Current(xxx)

with xxx increasing from 0, 196 and so on to 4090 (not 4096), and then the 2 lines above ended up looking like the following

                INFO: Start to lower format
                INFO: Doing Lower format, Total(0),Current(6)
                INFO: Lower format OK
                INFO: Erasing IDB OK

I am guessing this is just a display bug in the v1.37 flashing tool as I note the final Current(6) plus the last value I saw of Current(4090) make a total of 4096 which matches the initial Total(4096).

                Summary - it all worked!

Thanks Randy. Is your new packaged version just going to be the broken 2.5.1 + this downloaded kernel? If so I can continue setting up my tablet but if you are creating a 2.5.2 with some extra bits I might wait a while.

                Darren

                            Inverted Axis

Hi, i'm a big fan of your RileyRoms and i have tried your new rom in my max succesfully with the alternative kernel. Everything is perfect, but i would want to ask you something that another user asked you a while, and is to make a rom version with the y axis inverted. This is something that appears when the screen is repaired with new parts, and knowing that this will be the last firmware, you could make us a great favour. Thanks for your time and your hard work.

I will look into that. Right off hand, I don't remember where that setting is. I'm traveling out of town this weekend, so hopefully I can post a solution for that early next week.

                              Thanks for your support!!!!!!!!!!!
