Why do you guys even bother with stock kernels when its so obvious they are crappy... I use the 696 kernel posted above and i get around 22 000 in antutu and if i don't use the tablet too much it can go up to 13 days without charging?

What are u people so scared from to use an OC kernel??? Its a cheap chinese tablet for Christ's sake...

Well, in my opinion...stock kernels aren't that bad...and benchmark scores are just a number. There are pros and cons to switching kernels...and it all really depends on what you do with your device. I for one, am the first person to try every RILEYROM. OC kernels don't even exist yet before I release a ROM. If the ROM isn't good enough for me...with a stock kernel, then it's not good enough to be released with my name on it.

That being said, there are always users who want to see a higher Antuto score, or a faster clock speed. There are other who like an underclocked kernel to save on battery life.

I enjoy the happy middle...for stability.

I have high respect and appreciation for our kernel guys...but I see their frustration in trying to please every type of user. Plus, due to the variations in CPU quality, not every device benefits from the 696 kernel the way yours does.

It's just the nature of the Android beast.

About O/C kernels, not everybody can use them!
In my case, I've a new M9 max with a goodix screen and custom kernels released here doesn't works (no touchscreen).
The only way for me to use an undervolted or overclocked kernel is to patch a stock kernel. (-75mv 1608MHz + DDR @ 720MHz -> 1704Mhz CPU freeze after some minutes of use!)

I started to check the 2.5.x system.
Pipo finally patched framework-res.apk to solve the auto-brightness problem with the sensor from latest M9 Max batch (screen was becoming totally black when brightness was set to auto-mode )

Well fair enough, as indeed there are those for whom custom kernels don't work, that is a different story.. I at least was on the lucky side to be able to get the extra speed and the extra battery at once..

For the rest i guess there have to be volunteers that are willing to try and create a different kernel for each of the few existing tablet variations, so that every1 can experience the benefits that some of us do.. Only this way we can continue the legacy of the beastie Chinese tablets

P.S. Although i can enjoy the extra juice the 696 brings me, my tablet has its issue as weell, every time i play a 3D game, almost always in the shadows and darker areas, i get these little blue dots that look like noise on the image... And usually they affect the performance and lower it a little bit... I have tried with every kernel and ROM but none made a difference... So we are all cursed to suffer 1 way or another

P.S. 2 In the previous thread (2.4) i was asking for advices on how to safely open the tablet to clean the screen from dust under... After no reply's i grew the balls, opened it up with some sweat, and cleaned it, then i sealed the whole thing with thick tape inside in every area that dust can go through, so now i am finally enjoying a dust free premium experience

            Thanks for your support!!!!!!!!!!!
I am one of many affected by the problem of tactile inverted in the Y axis. In 4pda.ru forum found a kernel that I used in the RileyROM 2.4 and it has worked perfect, but I would like to see my Pipo M9 with RileyROM 2.5.2

In 4pda.ru give the following as a route to recompile the driver ct363:

            /drivers/input/touchscreen/ct36x/ct363.c

And this is the edition required:

            ct363-> x = ts-> orientation [0] * x + ts-> orientation [1] * y;
            ct363-> y = TS-> orientation [2] * x + ts-> orientation [3] * y; / / These lines Immediately after ct363-> x = TS-> x_max - ct363-> x; / / Axis "x" ct363-> y = TS-> y_max - ct363-> y; / / Axis "and"

I hope this could help you to solve soon

            Thanks

What settings did you use in "android tweaker 2"? I am trying it out with the 696 kernel.

Is this ROM actually 100% for a normal user (like me)?

What are the differences between 2.5.2 and the 2.4?

Thank you so much Randy and collegues

                    Big step forward regarding WIFI

                    For me, this 2.5.2 Version
                    finally solved WIFI problems

All and every earlier rom gave me
                    random loss of wifi Connection
                    hangs and problems with settings
                    for BT and wifi
3G is also running fine now

                    GREAT :-)

                      Speeding up M9 Max

                      Hi,

                      in this post

user Kandilak laid out a way to speed up the M9 Max by using Mounts2SD.

                      I have 2 questions now:

1.) Is this method still of benefit to the 2.5 ROM?

2.) If you have a M9 flashed with the 4GB RAM, will you loose all that 4GB on the real internal RAM with this method?

If so, would it not be good to flash this new ROM with as small a RAM partition as possible, f.e. a 256MB RAM, so that the internal SD card then becomes bigger and the space is not wasted?

Or would 256MB be too small and maybe 512MB would be better?

What changes in the boot files would need to be done to achieve flashing such a small ROM?

Sorry about so many questions, but I am always tight on SD space, as probably many others too .

BTW has anyone tried to use the M9 Max with a 64GB card - did it work or is 32GB th emax?

Can't comment on your other questions but my M9 is quite happy with a 64gb microsd.

                          link to official firmware

Hi Randy, I found the official link for the M9Max (same as the dumped ROM)
Maybe you can compare this Firmware with the dumped ROM
