The included instructions...the First Time User's Guide has all of the information pertaining to backing up the IMEI number. It's a risk that is taken when flashing MTK ROM's. There is also a thread I started a while back covering this topic....in the main MTK Tablet forum.

As far as getting it back after flashing over it...I'm not sure how to answer that. Perhaps it can be obtained through Cube tech support...but I doubt it.

Sorry, I just discovered Freaktab was back up and running...and I've been re-learning the new layout.

I will download tomorrow night after work dies down and start cooking.

    full tablet specs

all files - full dump (1.5Gig 7z file) - just in case

As I have no special requests, I really leave it to you and your experience and expertise!
    Much appreciate in advance!!!

Will do so (hopefully over this coming w'end) provided that all goes well with rooting, and send you the link.
Much appreciate your warning too, don't have much experience with Android tablets, having had impression that Rockip TV sticks are almost unbrickable beasts, would have surely went on playing with fire, so you can credit yourself of saving saved one imminent world disaster

o.k. I managed to root it, KingoRoot was the only option that worked for me (might be because of KitKat).
Did make a backup, in fact 5 or 6 different ones, experimented a bit as it turns into a rather large file (3.3 Gb, while entire internal memory is only 4 Gb - 1.5Gb compressed with 7z). Is that normal? There was absolutely nothing on it but the factory default. Log file of the backup was as follows:
    Code:

     --->>> Connect to device <<<---
ATTENTION! Requests for confirmation on the device screen are possible!
--- root shel it is received temporarily before reboot !
--- The preservation folder on the computer: C:\Users\Goran\Desktop\MtkDroidTools v2.5.3\backups\ALCATEL-ONE-TOUCH-P320X_141124_backup_150327-180857\
--- In phone files will remain in the folder: /mnt/media_rw/sdcard0/clockworkmod/backup/150327-180857/
     --- We keep blocks:
     - preloader_and_dsp
     - MBR
     - EBR1
     - nodl_pro_info
     - nvram.bin
     - userdata_nvram_only.tar
     - nodl_protect_f.ext4.img
     - nodl_protect_f.ext4.tar
     - nodl_protect_s.ext4.img
     - nodl_protect_s.ext4.tar
     - nodl_seccfg
     - uboot.bin
     - boot.img
     - recovery.img
     - secro.ext4.img
     - secro.ext4.tar
     - nodl_misc
     - logo.bin
     - EBR2
     - custpack2.ext4.img
     - custpack2.ext4.tar
     - mobile_info.ext4.img
     - mobile_info.ext4.tar
     - nodl_expdb
     - system.ext4.img
     - system.ext4.tar
     - nodl_otp - ERROR : Zero file, no space left on device!
--- We keep folders contents copying on PC
       - /data/nvram
       - /system
--- We pack everything kept in archive: C:\Users\Goran\Desktop\MtkDroidTools v2.5.3\backups\ALCATEL-ONE-TOUCH-P320X_141124_backup_150327-180857.zip
--- task end with ERROR ---
It actually ended with error, but if nodl_otp is a partition I can create it manually with dd.

If I bakup without SD card however (which in my case was 16Gig), and with no SIM card inserted or wifi connection active, than MTK droid tools complains that it cannot backup system or user data. Bat the system is copied into a folder. In this latter case backup is of decent size (around 350 Mb zip file), but it contains only 2 folders and three files (nvram and system folders and firmware.info, phone.info and mount.info). Log file is as follows:
    Code:
     --->>> Connect to device <<<---
ATTENTION! Requests for confirmation on the device screen are possible!
--- root shel it is received temporarily before reboot !
--- The preservation folder on the computer: C:\Users\Goran\Desktop\MtkDroidTools v2.5.3\backups\ALCATEL-ONE-TOUCH-P320X_141124_backup_150327-173142\
--- In phone files will remain in the folder: clockworkmod/backup/150327-173142/
     --- We keep blocks:
     - preloader_and_dsp - ERROR : Zero file, no space left on device!
--- We keep folders contents copying on PC
       - /data/nvram
       - /system
--- We pack everything kept in archive: C:\Users\Goran\Desktop\MtkDroidTools v2.5.3\backups\ALCATEL-ONE-TOUCH-P320X_141124_backup_150327-173142.zip
--- task end with ERROR ---
Please let me know if I am doing something wrong. I am uploading the larger file right now (assuming that it is the one which is usable), and it will take me ages as I have rather slow upload (only 1Mbs)

    Thanks, G

I typically don't add anything that is available for users to install from other well known sources. My job is to provide a bare bones, clean system for you to decorate and enhance on your own.

We have a rule here on Freaktab to only add our own apps/tweaks...and not add work from other developers without their permission.

    Here's the Teclast P98 4G ROM: Download

Here's the Cube T7 ROM: Download

These ROM's are based on the supplied firmware linked in your above posts.

    They are:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d/Busybox support added
Google Play Store fixes added to increase compatibility
Write permissions added for SD cards
    New bootanimation
Alternate boot.img that swaps internal/external SD cards

Neither of these stock firmwares have EBR files to adjust the user app space...so I'm not able to provide that feature.

Please report the results. As always...if the ROM checks out OK...I will create a new thread for the ROM.

And, please don't forget to donate if you can to support RileyROM development.
Thank you so much. At the moment I have no tablet. Remains on track. On arrival attempt to prove it. If someone has it before, can try it and tell us how it works.

    Alcatel One Touch p320x

    Dear Randy,
Many thanks for taking time to help others with MTK tablets!!!
Few days ago, as a part of business package, I got an Alcatel One Touch p320x which I understand fits into this category (Product model: alcatel one touch p320x, Android version 4.4.2, Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V39.P4, Kernel version: 3.4.67, Build number: 01001, Manufacturer: TCT Mobile Limited, CU reference: P320X-2AVNRS1, chipset MT8382).
Could not find its stock firmware download link, but am planning to root it first (following advice provided somewhere on freaktab, could be this very thread, forgive my short memory and make a back up if that would be of interest to anybody else.
Searching around, I also found that it appears to be most similar to Teclast P80 3G (MT8382 Quad Core 1.3GHz 8 Inch Android 4.4 Tablet http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014...rom-china.html), Freelander PX2C (7"), Pipo U7 (7.9#, Android 4.2) and Cube Talk 8 and U27GT. Still I have some doubts before I start playing as, apart from MT8382, these tablets share very little in common: differ in screen sizes, Android version and probably many other features.
My question is: would it be safe to play with your ROMs for these tablets despite the previous?
I am not overly ambitious as it already shows decent performance given its hardware, but if I manage to master this task, I would reaaally LOVE to learn if it is possible to run some Linux on MTK tablets (so far I was mainly a Rockchip person, and tweaking with linux kernels provided me so much fun that it almost became a hobby - btw I am just an average user, not a developer or anything similar

Forgive me a rather long message, and many thanks for your help!!!
    Goran
