No output from HDMI

Just received my S89, after a month long wait. Surprise, surprise, HDMI doesn't work out of the box. Considering it took a month to ship, and that Geekbuying is asking for return shipping I decided I'll look at it myself to save some headaches and money (I'm not paying $40 and waiting another month for a $100 Android box). Pulled the unit apart, and the soldering job was atrocious, even by Chinese manufacturing standards.

Will not be buying from Geekbuying, nor any products from Tronsmart again. Should have just ponied out the money for a Minix to begin with.

Sadly i don't really need to say anything at this point geekguying doing a fine job for me.

If what iam hearing is correct geekbuying in serious danger of getting De-listed like their old company MC-whatever that names was.

Too many unhappy customers ,too many ripped of buyers,too many doa products,toomany repeaired instead of new products and so on.

I know they say that they test each one, but this particular unit COULD NOT have worked. The HDMI contacts are balled a good 2mm off the board. No connection at all. No amount of pressure or jiggling with the cable would have made a connection.

Sadly i don't think they really care.

Too many products are being shipped broken,faulty or repaired.

Hell one guy got a repaired phone that they forgot to put the screws back in.

In all likelyhood they are here for a fast money grab and dont care about the name.
Once its gotten too bad they change the name like they done before and start over.

with all your reports I am feeling lucky... I have mine S89-H since June and no issues at all. Maybe because was the first batch?

Just luck.

All the soldering can't be bad on every device so some worked fine.
As demand went up though things got more rushed and sloppy so more duds.

I can see that.

I really like this box, but next time I think I will wait couple months to check the feedback

Upside is the hardware actually fine its the work put into sticking it together that bad.

So now that we are all aware we can fix the hdmi issue without dealing with this nightmare company.

I just got my s89h after a week my hdmi does not work. the blue light remains on. I have asked the question eric. if the problem is solved hdmi Was your answer yes. I do not know what to do. This is a month to month .a send GeekBuying. and one month to receive it. is there a way to repair.

I buy a Tronsmart Vega S89-H August 31, 2014 $ 120 GeekBuying.com send 09/05/2014 Singapore. Learn to tranquilize me. it is la version to install? 108K4? Is That WAS the HDMI problem we repair. I see on the forums there-have a lot of problems hdmi.

It Takes three months to months oven to Receive it. return. and Receive a new one. and taxes. I hope not repair. thank you in advance

The problem has always been bad manufacturing not the actually parts.

Did they get the manufacturing fixed..hell no people are still getting devices with no working hdmi.

To make matters worse they have no problem lying their butts off about it.

They tend to string people along tell the 45 days satisfaction policy for paypal has past and they ignore you.

You got a couple of options...contact paypal and open a dispute to get you money back.

Try to get it rma...which if you lucky to get a replacement that works its going to take months

Repair it yourself...how to fix the bad soldering is heavily documented here or you can have a professional do so for you.

Well, in my case I Had to (re) settle the tiny pins of the connector ...
That I guess heating up the big four ground pads while pressing the connector Against the PCB might help the little pine --other to make contact with (even if They Are not Properly Soldered) aim That Does not sccm has solid solution for everyone.
pradoxman # 64 What is the flow I Had the same issue from this crappy chinese box, no HDMI output when Receiving it! I Opened it up, Applied Some stream to the HDMI pins and heated em till it melt; working perfectly since then, so No Need to Spend money for sending it back and wait for Reviews another box for 5 minutes work; I see lot of people having this disorder ... a # 67 gives an explanation to apply a little flux on the 18 little pins of the HDMI connector and heat them up so the seals That Would melt cold; That helps so the flow the solder won't run uncontrolable from one pin to another; I have not Added Any extra solder and I have an ancient Farming thick solder tip; Those of you of course Who are reliable to use hot air it's more convenient and Would Not Even-have to use flow That Way. I can not find the translation flux

Sorry but it's not a 5 minute fix for most. It seems all supplier's have this issue it's not right that customers expected to open soder and tinker with a brand new box. Just insane and I've heard the same comment we tested before it's shipped!!! Should have never got out of the plant with the crap soder in I've seen. All of them should be embarrassed at thier response to customers and the crap that was sent out.

The insane part is they get away with it because it's hard to hold them accountable.

They should pay for shipping and returns when it's obvious that it's thier issue.
