If you look around you see he is supporting us. You testers got the hardware first to start, then the Dev's here once things get going. Trust there will be lots of activity from Dev's for the Beelink and Tronsmart devices. Oman has been great working with us and sharing with us!

Bob, i know oman is helpfull and open to the comunity, my question was more about how open the source code will be, will the comunity be able to port future versions of android even if development from beelink has seized in favour of newer devices...?

Excellent. Oman has really shown the right way to go

Sure Bob, Oman & Beelink have been quite right with their strategy to develop and evolve this RK3288 device, but however I would like to request to Oman and their design enginneers to change that external case with that very unconvenient shape of some kind of "pyramid" for just simple conventional one (square or rectangle); to diferentiate the device thay had done already good on the base of quality build, it´s not necessary to re-invent the wheel with those "uncoventional aesthetichs designs" to say the least; it´s a matter of hardware quality (pcb + CPU+GPU+ WiFi/BT chip, and other electronics components) and a great and solid Android Firmwares, that´s all, not those strange case/housing designs. It´s an opinion; I would like to go with the device as soon be going to the mass market.

Piramid? ? U mm mm no thanks.

Oman had design talks you missed it 😉 Moving on
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Nope, I did not missed that discussion; they had just added vent holes, but still preserving that strange shape (like a "piramid" or something like that), why? what advantage you get with that shape, it´s just difficult to stack up; keep it simple, square or rectangle with vent hole and rubber feet, that it´s!; they can succeed on sales with PCB quality, build quality not need to invent those ugly and strange shape!. Just an opinion.

As I scan my desk and entertainment center, I have all sorts of "strange" or "unconventional shapes". Yes, at first, I wanted to have all my devices square or rectangular so the could be "stacked", but after awhile, I adapted. I like the different shapes, even though sometimes I have a difficult time finding an eye pleasing way to place them. I thought I would hate that round S89h, but now I have become to like that shape. Also, I have seen people place items on the devices that "need" to breathe. I have even seen people with A/V receivers that had the entire top covered with items, completely blocking the vent holes. A lot of people have no idea how much damage they are causing to their electronics by "stacking" them. I cringe when I see vent holes blocked by dust, or anything else that blocks the vent holes. So, I would hope that when the designers create these shapes they are taking into consideration of ventilation.

I like the design! You want to know why? Because there is enough space inside the case to better handle the temperature than this flat tiny cases... (btw: also more space for own heatsink mods)

BTW: stack up isn't a real good idea because of temperature (also not with vent holes)... but clarkss12 described it very well

Well, you are right because I had said "stack", which it´s only one possibility that, anyway, I do not use at all, but IMHO that shape used by beelink requires more vertical space on TV/video table to allocate this TV box, which for me it´s a real concern on some "home setups"; all of these TV boxes are fan-less, even this strange form factor used by beelink; none of the classic - conventional shaped TV boxes, branded by a serious manufacturer like apple, amazon, and going to chinese market just to mention one more, Minix, they are not burning the device because of the square or rectangle form shape, even overclocking to the maximum a Minix X7 with classic square form shape, "zero thermal" problems; so, may be it´s a matter of personal preferences, but technically in this case, I can not see the justification; and it´s controversial from the stand point of market approach. Which actually makes difference is hardware build quality and confiability, durability combined with a solid OS/Firmware, not the external case; not need to going to these extreme form shapes (same situation for that round shape mentioned by clark, quite bizarre for devices like these TV boxes, but less worse because at least the bottom and top of the box are parallel).

The case design has reports of out of alignment issues with slots and ports, bottom pads being too short to keep the unit up high enough off the surface for proper airflow, and the bottom section becoming a closed thermal box allowing heat build-up. I certainly do hope these issues are being noted by Oman and modifications will be made for the final retail product. Fanless devices need proper thermal airflow design, large high quality heat sinks fastened properly with quality heat sink paste to allow the unit to handle the worst case scenario for it's intended use such as high end game playing for hours.

Yes, you are right, a little bit more space under the device will be nice (but, come on, if I want and if I mean I must do so, no problem to place a little bit bigger feet by my self )...

BTW: I don't have the same problems to plug the cables to the ports (normally I do it once and never again ) but the SD Card slot is a "fun generating" part (some short stress moments "where is my SD Card" )...
