OK so I am thinking this ROM is ready for prime time and out of BETA testing?

After some days of testing, I think the rom has no significant issue, it works pretty well. i've managed to integrate it with Persian language to some extent. I wish there were more users to test the rom. Also recovery mode works great, I've managed to recover my rom once after a failure.

There's only a little problem with navigation, it somwtimes laggs.

haven't installed yet the beta 3, but im doing it now...kinda busy with office works lately..
let me see if there are problems with the beta 3 with the old hardware of the arnova 7bg2 c...

Ethernet icon so persistent

The ethernet icon doesnt disappear, or should i say, returns back when i turn it off a couple of minutes.. probably happens when i turn off the ethernet while the wifi is on, the icon disappears, but then when i turn off the wifi, the ethernet icon comes back and needs to go back to settngs to turn it off again but still it comes back..

i dont know what happened but when i tried to shut down the tablet(due to the ethernet so persistent), it froze on a black screen, never came back, so i restarted it with the pinhole reset, but still it just froze after the boot up screen... i dont know but i think its got to do with the new image from the arnova website. had been doing flashing twice already coz of the same issues with beta 3..now i'll just be using the beta 1 right now coz that's more stable for me than the beta 2 or beta 3..

Perhaps the new image from Arnova is buggy, because my tablet has also some problems with more RAM consuming games. Also I had occasional problems with shutting down the tablet, it never shut down and the shut down caption never disappeared until I restarted the device using a pinhole.

Please try this and let me know.

Take the beta 1 ROM and in the image folder rename kernel.img to kernel.old

Now take the beta 3 ROM and copy the kernel.img from that into the beta1 image folder. Flash the beta1 ROM (but it will be beta 3 kernel).

You mean flashing the full rom or just the kernel?

I want you to go back to the beta 1 system stuff but use the new kernel from beta 3. So it will be a full flash.

See if your sound works and that it powers down etc.

You should be able to backup with CWM and if it doesnt work, flash back then do a restore. MAKE SURE your sdcard is not corrupt before doing the backup!

As an initial report, the rom was flashed successfully, there was not the first boot display problem either! Sound works well. I have the battery icon problem.

What happens if I restore my data to this rom?

Go ahead and try to restore ONLY data and cache using advanced restore! If you do a full resotre it will write the system and boot and we do not want that as it will revert your system files back to beta 3.


Test this please for problems. I can fix the battery icon later for you. I just want to know if the new kernel with older system files is more stable.

Unfortunately I lost my backup after flashing the rom, I didn't consider that I'm going to erase my internal memory! However this trick seems far stabler and smoother than the previous one until now. Everything works normally and I didn't observed any crash till now. I restored battery icon by flashing beta 3 system.img.

Your basically back to beta 3 now. So for testing I need you on beta 3 kernel but beta 1 system.
Dont worry about the battery icon. I can fix that. I just dont want to go to the trouble if beta 3 kernel and beta 1 system do not work properly.

Yes if you do not have a external SDcard, you cannot keep backups!
