Stock Firmware - Beelink S82/M8 - MXIII 1/2G - Official FW Releases from Beel...

    @Ichjoe

I see what you are getting at and I think too this is possible but I have no time on my hands to try this. 109 / 110 or has better support at video codecs with the 4K player. My experience anyway. You make some very valid points and I applaud you for that. Unsure if Netflix is still supported via the add-on in XBMC as I couldn't get it to work. It has something to do with Silverlight and Android. Netflix IMHO looks at the build and manufacturer. That's why most of us spoofs a Nexus 10 android device, Encoder strength needs to bettered on the stock players, I agree ... MX Player has gone downhill. I don't do XBMC for the girlfriends sake, she just points and clicks. So now I use MX player instead of the stock video player on 108K4 just to get Netflix looking good again.

Likely but the box is still being made and the remaining issues like the codec aren't easily fixed.

The codecs which are likely the route of most of the issues now are a mess of patched and re-patched files.
They need to get that just right or it affects most aspects of the devices primary functions.

SD update doesn't work. Tried both OTG and SD ports. Got reply: can't find /dev/block/mmcblk01
What does that mean? What should I do to get SD port to accept FW update?

        Anyone?

Could you please elaborate about the link between MX Player and Netflix ? I thought these two are independent.

@mowgli No link between the two. It's just that I need to use a older stock Beelink firmware to use Netlfix so that there's is no lagging or frame skips on the video being displayed. I use MX player for local video files as it has hardware acceleration on the older firmware as the video codec is not as good as on the latest Beelink stock roms.

Not unless it is a common ROM to begin with which it is not. These new 4.4 setups use a second ram disk in boot and in that is the DTD. This describes the hardware to the kernel. This is actually cool because you can usually port other kernels by using the DTD from your kernel. Not always but sometimes depending on SDK level.

Anyway just copying those files over wont work. You would also need the DTD for your hardware and the kernel from the whatever ROM your using. Even then it may not work if the SDK level is too far apart.

I see. Thank you! Just wondering, in Netflix, video / audio sync issue, is it something in the kernel or the ROM ?

Unsure, Finless would be the best to answer that question 😄

Yeah 109k/110k have serious issues with the codecs that affect playback in most areas.

There playback issues all over the place from sync issues to,distortions and in some cases no playback at all.
Added to the fact that when it does work things often look worse then before.

No use jumping to a new Android box every time it gets launched as it will never be perfect. Products get better with time with the right support and but some just gets abandoned. Hope to see more from Oman and Beelink as I'm happy with my box ... Just the video codecs that need additional strengthening 😉

Has anyone though to just take the codec files from the old ROM and copying them into your system replacing the ones that are there? Seems that should be easy although I have not investigated what these files are. I suspect they are just lib files?

May not fix the problem though.
The codecs may have issues with the updated rom which are making things worse.

Still worth a try as i can't see it causing too much trouble...of course i say those words now...lol.

All leave it to others with more time to try.

I'm not sure how this is setup - navigated to system\lib and there are alot of files.
In system\lib numerous *.ko, *.o *.so files reside.
                            In system\lib\amplayer resides
                            In system\drm folder
                            In system\hw folder
                            In system\ssl folder
                            In system sound fx folder
                            In system\Egl folder

Unsure of which to copy to test or maybe just the whole lib folder?

It would be interesting to see if playback on the 109k is pure codec related or a combo of the rom itself and the changes to the codec.

I do it but i have no real experience with the aml rom yet.

108k had playback issues in basically just one area which was easily gotten around with other players.
109k has issues that affect netflix, plex and lord knows how many other app's.

I for sure would not do the entire lib folder as many libs relate to the sdk and will probably make things really bad or not even boot.

I would try anything related to amplayer. Also I think any lib files that have OMX in the name as I think that is the hardware decoders. I seem to recall that in on of the .rc files. The stagefright codec's are usually software but you might try them as well.
Also maybe libOpenHVEC or other open video files like that.

I don't think you need to mess with EGL type libs as that is for the Mali chip and should not be effected by codecs. Also forget DRM or HW folders...

You going to have to just mess around here. I bet it is probably just one or two files but I could be wrong.
