THIS is the latest firmware I've found for Chuwi VX8 (not 3G). The internal memory is still divided and no EBR files

      Hey everybody,

since RileyRom V1.1 could not be successfully put onto my new vx8 (got it 6 days ago, with newest stock rom on it) I have to stay with the most recent stock rom from December. That is sad on one hand, because I always preferred custom roms (Riley, you surely do have no time or mood to build a new RileyRom based on the newest stock firmware?? ;-)) and on the other hand, because I am not able to mount a ntfs formatted sdcard.

Yeah sure, there are some apps which help me there (Paragon, ..), but not all apps seem to be able to handle that mounted sd card correctly then, Here+ for example. Furthermore, whenever i put in the micro sdcard, android tells me, that the microsd card is either empty or damaged, which is both not the case.

      Any ideas, suggestions, ... ?

It could be a card slot problem?

Hm, i do not think so. The sd card is immediately recognised, when it is formatted with fat32. Furthermore, the sdcard is recognised when formatted with ntfs and mounted with the paragon ntfs app... (which i am only partly happy with, because some apps seem not be able to handle the card correctly after mounting with paragon ntfs app).

does your chuwi mount a ntfs formatted sdcard right out of the box?

Tried that as welle, the tablet formats the sdcard in fat32... so you can not copy files over 4gb onto it.

                  Hi
I jut received my VX8. I tried to flash 1.1 and now it is bricked ...
I have exactly the same issue than dzenk in this post : http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post226914
When I pushed the button in SP Flash Tool, nothing append and since the tablet cannot boot, even in recovery (screen is always black).
When it is connected to the PC, it is still recognized as a MT65xx device. I think this is the preloader, but I can't do anything as the tablet is not recognized in SP Flash Tool...
Is there a solution to unbrick it ? Please help !!!!

                  Thank you

PS: I saw the method based on the battery removal. I will test it this evening

Notes: I saw in this thread that some of you have questions which I can probably answer.

Permute External SD: since Android Kitkat, apps are not authorized anymore to use the physical external SD card. Now, when you switch the setting to ON, it will only store the pictures from the camera application. The only thing to do is to permute the mounts inside de boot.img and to flash it back.

OTG: OTG can be enabled in the fsbtab files in any phones/tablets with the same method as upper (inside the boot.img). You should add a line like this in the fstab file : /devices/platform/msm_hsusb_host/usb2 auto auto defaults voldmanaged=usbdisk0:auto
When I ll have time, I will do it for both boot.img (with or without SD permuted)

poor GPS: it is a general issue on most of the MTK devices. It could be improved following the above steps :
                  - swith off GPS
                  - with a root explorer, backup and remove /data/misc/mtkgps.dat file
                  - find the gps.conf file appropriate to your contry (use google) and replace the existing one pre-configured for China in /system/etc/ directory with a root explorer. This will geolocalise you faster with the wifi and GMS network
                  - install MT GPS EPO Fix, launch and erase download new EPO
                  - in MobileUncleTools, under Engineer Mode go in GPS section. Check Enable EPO. Enable AGPS. Under Location tab, activate GPS. In YGPS tab, click : Hot, Full and Restart.

seb_131, your VX8 is a D series one? You can know it looking at serial number.
                    What is your firmware date?

                    Comment

                      it is : Q8G140901936

when I unplug the battery, the tablet is then recognized by SP Flash Tool, but I get now the following error:
                      BROM ERROR : S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)
                      [EMI] DEnable RAM failed!
                      [HINT]:
Please check your load matches to your target which is t be dowloaded.

This error states that the preloader.img I try to load it wrong for the device....

Is it a Driver issue ? Or what else ???

Your serial begins with VX8DQ8G... or VX8Q8G...?

About the error, are you flashing the whole firmware or just a modified boot.img? I remember that flashing a modded boot gives an error but the flash is well made :-/

                          it is written: "VX8 Q8G140901936"
Before, when it was switched off it was resognized as a MT65xx device. The first time I tried to flash it, nothing appened (no progress bar at all). I unplugged it, and it was bricked and not recognized anymore by SP Flash.
I unplugged and plugged the battery. Now it is recognized as a generic MTK USB device, and in SP Flash tool when I try to download the preloader (or any other file/s, whole or partial firmware), I have now a red progress bar which ends with this error message.
I tried several roms. I don't think it is a wrong preloader.img file, it is probably a wrong driver. I will try with Windows XP in a virtual machine.

OK, then your Chuwi is "regular" series.

Plese tell us the date of your firmware, maybe it is the newest available :-)

                            Are you following these instructions?

                              Yes, I did exactly that.
I don't know which firmware version was in before. I just started it one time, then I tried to flash...

So, you tried to flash and that failed... And now your Android doesn't boot?
Have you tried to flash any official firmware?
