My first post here so Hi to everyone. Have been lurking for a while but just registered.

I'm currently considering either MXIII-G or M8S+ from Gearbest. They are similarly priced but I'm leaning towards M8S+ as it seems to have better support. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Also, any reason not to pick this one over the MXIII-G?

My factory firmware is KOT49H.20150827 but I could not find this anywhere. I tried different available on the Internet but only this worked:

they said this is the M8S clone version. However it still using samsung & hynix nand. The problem is firstly i thought it was M8 because the bottom show M8 mark.
Now i'm stuck with blank screen. Cant use usb burning tool because comp cant detect it although try short nand. Any advice from members using the same pcb with me?

Hi all i'm new here!

Yesterday i've just got 2 M8S from 2 local stores. After checked, i recognized both 2 are clone. Here are detail for both.

Box 1:

- All the Ram chips are NONAME
- Boot show H265 and M8S
- Kernel ubuntu and build M8S
- Antutu 27.175 point (3D test in Antutu got 6.106 point at average 12 - 15 fps)
- Total Ram 1.828MB and total Rom 5.17GB
- Used ram (after boot) 394MB on fresh Rom (Factory default) without install any new apps
- Manufacture MBX and Board bcm4335















Box 2:

- All the Ram chips are ELPIDA
- Boot show S812 only
- Kernel foxluo and build KOT
- Antutu 33.412 point (3D test in Antutu got 10.218 point at average 22 - 25 fps)
- Total Ram 1.565 MB and total Rom 4.68 GB
- Used ram (after boot) 1.2 GB on fresh Rom (Factory default) without install any new apps
- Manufacture SkyKirin and Board n200














Conclusion:

- Box 1 has more Ram and Rom, after boot has more free Ram but Antutu got lower point and 3D got slower (12 - 15 fps)
- Box 2 has less Ram and Rom, after boot has less free Ram (about 2-3xx MB) but Antutu got higher point and 3D faster (23-25 fps)

For your experience, which one should be better!?

Joseph, I have the same as your box 1 and I cannot get openelec on it and usually cannot get it in recovery mode using the toothpick method. have you figured out box 1

I've never try recovery mode so i dont know also. However i've find out that this box got 2 issue:

1. Date/Time always get back to 1970 everytime i turn off the device (unplug the power). So, everytime i turn it on, i have to turn off the wifi, then turn on again (1-2 times) so that the Date/Time can be up to date.

2. The wireless mouse (using usb reciever) usually got lag even i've try both 2 usb ports. This issue currently cant fix and all i have to do is accept this situation.

Does anyone have some idea !?

1. That is normal operation for this box (I have an almost similar but mine is V8_8 on pcb). If you just use the remote to put it into stand-by, then its ok. If you must unplug the power each time, then just make sure you have wifi on, and in the "date and \time" settings use automatic network time (or something like that) and set your time zone. Then it will update after a minute or so if wifi is on after you reapply power.

2. I use a 2.4ghz remote/keyboard combo and have no lag, so not sure about your particular mouse. \did you try another mouse?

I've tried 3 mouse, they are 1 Logitech, 1 Genius and 1 Buffalo but all got the same lag. If i come close to the box (around 1 - 1.5 meter then it ok) but if go further then it will lag. The 3 mouse if test on laptop can work normal up to 4 meters. The usb ports still can work with portable HDDs so i have no idea what happen and how to fix.


Back to my first question, do you have any idea which box should be better? Box 1 or 2?

Hello!

I bought this on aliexpress, I'm pretty sure it's a clone, not sure if a good one.

I tried to flash some rom via SD card and now it wont boot. I get the blue light but just a black screen. Can't enter recovery via toothpick.

Tried via usb burning tool but can' get my computers to recognize the device. Installed drivers but nothing happens when i conect the usb, only blue light. Not sure if the cable is USB 2.0 but it looks fine.

What else should i try?

Hi again.

I got an .img file from manufacturer. however the box is not detected in PC. Weird thing is that only one usb port turns the blue light on when pluged. Maybe the other (outer one) is the one for OTG and its broken?

Can I make up the remaining files need for SD flash?

I share photos with my M8S Amlogic S812 2GB+8GB AP6330 clone i bought 8 months ago from aliexpress for 60$
Full specs can be found on specdevice
It cames with firmware KOT49H.20150728. It is fully compatible with all ENY M8S firmwares that I've tested
After many trials i managed to install latest Android Lollipop from Tronsmart MXIII Plus 106L1_151029

Everything is working fine with this firmware, except from original remote which didn't bother to fix, since i am using an airmouse!
