I seem to have the same "clone" as odyseus10 in POST 109 of this thread but neither his or other method of
recovery seem to work on my box.
I flashed it with the Megatron ROM but there were three versions and I clearly pick the incorrect one.
Now it will boot up and 'sort of work' but only one USB operates, the SD Card doesn't work and the AV reset
button doesn't work. Also, the working usb will NOT connect to my PC (Driver failure) so I can't use the USB
      burning tool.
I've attached a photo of my board.
Could you please confirm that it is a CLONE (Mine was purchased as GENUINE)
Assuming that the "short to reset" pins are on the chip at the centre, bottom of the photo, which two pins are they?
I have identified which is Pin 1 (bottom left on chip)
      Cheers,

I'd stop before you start if opening the case is tricky

Ok guys, what kind of junk did I buy?
Is this thing a clone? I just bricked the thing after flashing an incompatible ROM on it. No blue light, no booting into recovery mode, no activity whatsoever.
I just want to see if this is a really bad clone or I just got unlucky with my flashing. If it is junk, I'm just going to stop dealing with the seller.
I appreciate any info you can give me :-)

Here is an image of the board

mpmontero: A few of my clients are in the exact same boat, they have almost the same board as you. (the nand chip has a few different numbers and the chip right under the ethernet port seems different) But EXACT Same issue with flashing an official M8S rom and bam box is dead!

ACEMAX has confirmed with me that this board is a clone and not made by them!

FIRMWARE on whatever this M8S s812 clone is

                      M8S is KOT49H.20150827 test-keys
                      kernel 3.10.33

Ive read a few places you can short the nand (SK Hynix H27UCG8T2ETR BC) by bridging the 2 legs in my third picture and apparently this gets USB Burning Tool to recognize this box and allows you to flash it...

*** UPDATE # 1 Tried shorting out pins, no luck with getting USB Burning tool to recognize this

*** UPDATE #2) Tried USB Burning tool with a with a new NON bricked M8S (or whatever this S812 clone m8s is) USB Burning tool would recognize but it fails at 2%

My question is what rom does one flash this with, if they magically get this thing to flash?

Hi guys I have the same board as mpmontero

I just joined the forum as iv just managed to unbrick the same model board as you have using the usb burning tool and an image I stumbled on which works. At the moment it boots up showing its an m8s not an m8 but it was totally dead before, no light or any power. Id like to find someone with the original firmware as I can reflash it now.Anyone got a backup?

I used usb burning tool 2.05 , my desktop pc wouldnt load drivers from usb burning program properly so tried laptop with windows 7 ultimate x64 , drivers loaded properly .Was failing to import the image every time, or if it did load failed, then i tried this,{search on google} , Em9_ap6330_2g8g_150203_usb .Firmware flashed ok rebooted, Box came alive working fine, didnt have to short pins / jumper etc , hope this helps. If anyone has the original firmware would appreciate a copy, [email protected] thanks Mark

                                Hi,
I bought an OTT M8 on ****, the PCB is exactly as odyseus10's on post #109.
After powering it up for the first time I just tried the basics to see if it was working, and then I tried to flash Openelec from an SD card, which didn't work at all and somehow replaced the boot logo, as far as I can remember the new logo mentioned M8S instead of M8.
After that I tried reflashing a different version of openelec with no success.

After finding this forum I tried odyseus10's procedure with no success, then I tried the USB flashing tool version 2.0.2 instead of 2.0.0.140306 I was able to flash odyseus10 suggested image. That same rom image which worked with odyseus10 didn't work with me, I have seen that image's boot logo once, after that the screen went black. Inserting and SD card and removing it showed that android was running because some directories typical on an Android system had been created on the SD card, but after powering off the box it never booted again... and this is the current state, and I can't even try to flash a new rom because the PC can't detect the box any more.

When I connect the power, the red LED flashes for a split second and then the blue LED takes over and stays that way.

What can I do now? Is there anything else I can try? Or do I have a quad-core brick?

                                Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
