Hi all new to the m8s box and would like to update it asap, but it fails ota vendor update and reading about all the clones I'd like to see if its legit before I flash it through recovery or something like flashify ( can you use flashify ?)

Well I've now unbricked this M8

(1) Made up a Male to Male USB (not OTG).
(2) Downloaded Amlogic Windows Burning Tools - http://www.mediafire.com/download/jm...ogic_tools.rar
(3) Downloaded Probox2 Ex Image file - http://probox2.com/?wpdmact=process&...UuaG90bGluaw==
(4) Connected USB to outside USB.
(5) Ran software and loaded image - in my case it detected unknown on HUB4 or something like that.
(6) Pulled the power and then pressed reset.
(7) Reconnected the power and kept holding down the reset button.
(8) Started the flash.

Only down side is that the outside USB no longer works.

Best thing is that the blue light now goes off when the unit is turned off my the remote control

Can anyone tell me if this is a clone? It looks the part has 4x Samsung chips has M9&M8_V0.92 but missing digit from date under that and heat sink differs from other pictures i've seen.. looking to put finless1.8 on it

Finally found someone with the same M8S Box as me. Did you find out if its a clone? also what is your processor clocked at. the box says 2.0 ghz but under system info says mine is clocked at 1.9ghz. ARMV7.

I think it's the WiFi antenna? There seem to be quite a few antenna variants around

i have the same clone as KainXS in his post on page 6. does anyone know what roms can be loaded on this model? the wifi is incredibly slow 13mbs on 5g wireless, when the nextpvr addon is loaded and you try to view the epg or channels it locks for minutes at a time.

Edit: kainxs replied to a message and said his has gotten fried so he hasnt loaded any recent roms but before it died he had gotten finless and justme roms to work on our style

Lesson learned never buy blind off ****, shame as I really wanted a super fast android tv box, glad i got full REFUND no way was I taking it 100mbs box running 40 then 20 at best

no backup **** stepped in and sorted it BUYERS BEWARE ! buy a box with backup and available roms from a trusted box seller

Can anyone recommend a functional ROM for my OTT M8 ? Is is marked M8N on the back, and M9&M8_V1.0 on the pcb.

Among so many devices, fakes/clones and ROMS, I am totally lost. I wpuld just have a better box running the new Isengard Kodi, which stutters video at 1080p even on Ethernet connection. WiFi is terrible bad and not usable.

Im having difficulty finding a Rom to work on this exact model M8N marked on the bottom
and M9&M8_V1.0 on the pcb
but mine has samsung memory chips

Wifi chip is a realtec rtl8188etv

The main problem, every Rom I try the WiFi will not work.
