My pcb is the same at this picture.

I'm not sure, but I thing this pcb has also OTG but the picture quality at both pictures are not really good and at your pcb the pins for the jumper (the blue one) are missing (not soldered but the holes exists)...

Just tested ADB on EM square box.
Seems to be working.

Need to open the box
Place jumper at ID_SW (between usb & HDMI)
Start box & enable USB debugging
Use male usb <=> male usb cable
Use left USB connection (on edge of the box)

Tested with ADB, seems to connect.

But, if toothpick method isn't work I think it doesn't help at the brick, also because you have no .IMG for flashing with 'USB Burning Tool' (there only exists files for flashing via SD card)...

That's your PMU or Power management IC, sounds like you burnt it out.
If you flashed an image thats not compatible and bricked your deivce like I did it killed the PMU replace that and you'll be back up and running.

Stock firmware for M9&amp;M8_TVBOX_V01_0728

For those who have the following M8 model (M9&M8_TVBOX_V01_0728) :



If you tried the Finless 1.8 ROM, your device might be stucked at the splash screen. I have dumped the stock firmware if someone need it (kot49h.20140915 test-keys) : https://mega.co.nz/#!s8kzDDCQ!b9Vh8-1U6o6MQzFF8XIQpUvUNlxQgIamO58jy9D9fJA

To use this firmware :

1. Copy contents of the archive to the root of a SD card
2. M8 turned off, insert the SD card
3. Use toothpick method to access the recovery menu (actually it will be TWRP, thanks abdul for this great tool)
4. Choose the "Restore" tab, then choose "External SD" and access to the folder where all the files are (/BACKUPS/k200/KOT49H...).
5. Select every files (check also MD5 verification) and launch the recovery
6. Once it's done, select Reboot
7. ... and I hope your M8 will work again

Thanks for reply. I am afraid, my PMU is burned. I saw spark on the PMU. What can I do? This tv box is only junk???

That's your PMU or Power management IC, sounds like you burnt it out.

Thank You! I had (soft brick) stuck at Finless splash screen and this method worked on my box. It is now at factory settings and working perfectly! Can you please tell me what rom works on this box, I have hard bricked another box flashing the wrong rom and burned out the board. The factory rom does not have root and I have not been able to get root access on this box because the firmware is just to new. Any ideas??

That box is fine I have firmware for it that works very well or Stanes Linux works good for it, all the m8 are basically the same whoever you but from just need a decent firmware.

Did you try the "Aptoide" app? It is already installed on M8 box and some app that you can't install using Google Play can be installed with Aptoide.

(And I'm happy that your M8 box now works again! )

Yeah the other box will need the pmu replacing. I use aptoide personally
