I flashed back to stock and rooted with towelroot, and then again with ezroot from finless, got a bootloop. I'm done for the night.

No luck, no video output. I left it to run for a while after flashing to see what would happen. It did have video at first, gave me the HPH boot image and then the recovery format data but nothing after that. I think I gave it enough time to install apps and give me the launcher selection.

I have a few hours to myself tomorrow, I will try again with the Tronsmart Orion R28 firmware from finless. Meta and Telos have ap6335 wifi. Among the RK3288 devices out there, custom roms are available only from Wasser, mo123 and Finless. All are for the R28 R89 and HPH interchangeably (I think). Are there any more I am missing? Has mitchell4you tried any of these on his? Or dimobg on the 16gb version?
My MK809III died yesterday. I may be able to short the pins and revive it. Between working in the MK903V, I will be working on reviving it and my LG phone which also died during a bad flash. Long story short, I am nervous as hell about the MK903V also becoming a paperweight. Every RK3188 device I had has bitten the dust with "Prepare IDB Fail" error. I would not want the same to happen to my RK3288.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

Bootlooped again. Gonna try the reset button and if that doesn't work then orion finless rom and then back to stock again. I'm getting some strange sluggishness on it now when I start it up. Maybe rooting with towelroot is the problem, never did that before.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

Finless 1.2 also works, except for wifi. I booted it up, installed spmc 15 launcher, tested video playback, tried wifi and bluetooth and got the dmesg (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7l...ew?usp=sharing) I also tried the mo123 rom for hph one more time, still got no video, so no dmesg.
Back to stock again!Last edited by budgetgeek; 13 August 2015, 16:36.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

Sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the thread but I should finally have some time this weekend to try a few roms on the 16gb version. A few questions:
1. Is the rockchip flash toolkit the best option to do a nand back up of my current rom and set up? Would really like to not loose that as i've put some time into it. This is the tutorial i'll be following http://freaktab.com/forum/developmen...ew-rk-2-1-tool
2. A list of AP6335 devices would be very helpful, as these would be the roms i'd like to focus on. The 8gb version rom which is for AP6330 broke the 5ghz ability.
3. Do i focus on stock roms only? Or just anything I can get my hands on?
4. Things to test: (please add if i am missing anything)
a) Wifi 2.4 speed and stability
b) Wifi 5.8 Speed and stability
c) Bluetooth
d) Antutu benchmark scores (at 1080p)
e) Antutu Video 3.0 scores (at 1080p)

1. I am not sure how to back up using the android tool. I only backed up my .spmc folder and saved the apk's from data/apps to reinstall later, and copied build.prop and update.zip for rooting. Had to manually uninstall bloat, but it takes about an hour to reset everything. Even still, you may want to back up those things if the rockchip tool fails you.
2. Try the finless rom 1.2 for the hph/r89/r28 it uses the ap6335 wifi and booted on mine, so you may also get it to boot and use wifi. Also try the wasser rom, i think it will also work with wifi, but be careful, mine got really hot even when not using it. It gets hot, but never that hot.
3. There is already a stock rom working for the stick, so I don't think we need it, and I already tried the radxa rom and got the dmesg from it.
4a. I couldn't test wifi speeds, but connectivity should be most important. bluetooth should work if wifi does.
Antutu probably just need to test video out, i think you need wifi working for that app to download sample video, I did not try it, just used a 1080 hvec test video.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

You might have an sdcard around and with the rockchip sdboot 1.43 tool can boot the wasser image, or the ugoos ubuntu image.
Or not. I tried it but it just went to recovery, with the option to apply an update. No boot option.Last edited by budgetgeek; 20 August 2015, 19:36.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

Okay, the wasser 2.0.7 for AP6330 rom works. I did get a warning when downloading it that it was a virus or spyware, but you know, I don't care.
Wifi works, but OTG and blue light do not. Working on changing the Nexus spoofing etc and trying it out.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

It's been a while guys. A long while. Unfortunately I got ripped off and my device was never sent. I did chase them up on it but after no response I decided not to pursue it again. Does anyone know of better models with the same HDMI stick form factor? Android based would be preferred, as long as it can also run linux. I'm also considering looking into Windows devices such as the one from Intel.

I know there is the Rikomagic V5, and the Jesurun T034 both with RK3288 processors, but you may not want to go that route given that support is not yet here, or even on the horizon.
There is the Tronsmart Draco H3 if you want another stick running android with a processor from Allwinner, but again, not too much support.
If I could get a stick with Intel processor and Windows, it would be the Beelink Pocket P2,, and that may be the only option. I would recommend a box, though. In that category, I'd like to get a Voyo V2.
For anyone following the thread and considering an MK903V, I highly recommend it still.Currently Inactive on Freaktab.com

For the mk903v, I used the newest Wasser beelink lollipop rom with the misc.img and resource.img file of the rikomagic v5 Beta lollipop rom. Wifi works and seems to be ok. It runs hot though and I believe if someone can under clock the cpu a bit then you might have a.good lollipop rom. I haven't tested much but I will leave that for others who wants to try.
