    WHAT

For this rom not to work (what seems like a lot of the time), or create a bootloop (that requires way more work to fix than it should), i just dont see it as worth it. Like i posted above, mine just sat there and didnt install. I still need to check and see if its now a brick. I would have thought though that someone would knock the kinks out of this rom so that it doesnt mess up. how about working on that instead of adding or taking off features? thats way more important! fix the rom and maybe one day ill come back and try it! for now, not going anywhere near this disaster! thanks anyway though!

If you search the forum for "UG802 bootloop" you will find lots of posts....Here's one to get you started....It does work (I've done it twice!)......Good Luck

Warning! Be very careful with the micro usb port as these break off very easily, especially when not supported by the case....and then you will need a soldering iron....but there is a post for that as well!

But seriously, be very careful with the micro usb port.

....And here is the link to Bob's Wfi mod video for opening the case....

Hummm.... I feel a little bit stupid right now... I mean, I read about the boot loop, but (I don't know really why...) I didn't associate it with my problem... Now you mentioned it, I gess thats the case. Anyway, I'll try it out and tell the results.

Of course, thanks for your response, advice and also the video!! Oh! I have the tools for soldering if needed, but I'll be very carefull anyway...

      Thanks for the help!

            Whats up with that?

Obviously i couldnt leave it on all night, so had to turn the little device off. im hoping that when i have a look at it later today, i havent created a brick! which of course im going to be pretty pissed about.

any ideas why this crapped out? the download was good, i followed the instructions (basically copy it to the micro memory card and reboot the mini-tv. what the heck?
            My story:
            • Got bob finless tool
            • It was USELESS to me as when it tested it always came up with a BAD test
            • Many other tools later I decided to keep it as a novelty item until I can get some help....
            • Too bad too ):
            • PS: I use a UG802

              Thanks

thanks for bricking my device like this rom has done to over 50% of the people that have downloaded the EASY way!

truly sucks and now im $40 in the hole.

i should have left well enough alone and i really dont feel like opening it up to short any pins so that i might recover my mini-pc.

ended up buying a roku and that pisses all over the mini-pc.

thanks again for destroying my mini-pc, maybe BOB you could make the rom a little more bullet proof before you put it out there for people to try! ever think of that? because if this really was a good idea, then it would work on 100% of the same VERSIONand MODEL right? like a windows patch working for all the same service packs. because if microsoft released a patch that killed over half the pcs in was installed on, they wouldnt be in business long, now would they?

ugh are my last words on this ROM (which it can barely be called).

                Bob test his roms always.
                He knows what he doing.
Remember flashing is always your own responsibility.
And if he is not 100% sure of the rom then he told that.
But for 100% brick i dont believe that.

Since it's bricked and everything, you could always try and send it back to the retailer and see if they will give you another one. Might work, might not.

If your to scared to open the case and short the 2 pins, then that's your fault. Those pins are mentioned for a reason. There is absolutely no way that I know of that will 100% brick this device short of shorting the wrong pins and screwing the processor up.

Yeah, unless what I said above happens, there is no way of 100% bricking the device that I can think of. With those 2 pins, you can force a reboot into recovery, it's all he needs to do.

                    Happy Customer

With quite a few posts about problems, I'd like to post a positive about this ROM. When I first received the UG802 I was optimistically excited. The default ROM it shipped with was pretty unusable. After an hour with it I did the quick flash using the SD card method and flashed it to the Finless 1.4 version. It was OK, but I had a lot of problems with wireless signal and streaming Netfilx. I lost interest and the stick sat collecting dust in my mess of A/V cables.

I broke it out tonight and flashed it to 1.7 and I'm now back to being excited about it. Wireless signal and speed are excellent! Not even a hiccup with Netflix. I'm truly impressed with the difference. I only have a few hours spent with it since the newly flashed ROM, but from what I've seen it's working great. I went with the default 720 kernel and it's working better than I thought this stick ever would have. Too bad I waited. I was really hoping to find a good working Android stick that I could buy for xmas presents for a couple of people. Guess they will have to wait for birthdays now.

FYI, the hardest part of getting the stick flashed (for me anyways) was getting the flash utility on my XP computer to find it. It took about an hour of turning on and off the Connect to PC under USB in the settings, switching back and forth to mass storage, along with multiple reboots of the stick and computer. Once I got past that it all went fine.

Wonder where you get the 50% statistics? I call BS on that for sure. Most people that were successful may not even post. Forums usually are mostly posts about people that do have problems and asking questions!

Flashing a ROM is not my design! Rockchip invented this process and noting I can do about it. How you can blame me for F'ing up your device is beyond me! ROM flashing can sometimes fail. This is not my code or process. It is not always 100%. THIS is why they make a way to unbrick.

You took the risk flashing which is very clear about the risks! If you were unwilling to do everything needed should some problem happen (take your device apart), then you should have never even tried to flash a custom ROM! So..... you should THANK YOURSELF for bricking your device. NO ONE made you flash this ROM.

Sheesh..... Some people... Personally people like this probably should not even buy a device like this... Sorry....

I update my device using Flashing from SDCard method described and it went well until it displays:

I updated this ROM because it was not recognizing my FAVI Entertainment Wireless Keyboard and mouse.

Got the same screen as Gerson did above on my UG802 and can't unbrick it

                          Hi,

I tried installing the Finless ROM via micro-sd and got the same frozen screen as Gerson's post shows. So I went and dowloaded the Rockchip Batch tools (1.5) and was able to mount the UG802 and run RKBatchTool.exe, but I keep getting "Check chip fail" messages, even on 2 separate computers and several different USB cables. Here is the typical fail sequence (whether I try "restore" or "update":

Well, the good news is I got it to load the Finless ROM using the ug802_finless14a_pcflash_version method. But the wireless on this still isn't very good. I have tried the antenna mod as well.
