wifi issue on 4.2.1 MX2
Hi All, I have searched but can not find an answer. I hav sucessfully installed 4.2.1 on to an MX2/G18 box and openelec runs nicely under wired connection however when I try to connect via Wifi I am getting an error "network error invalid arguments" this happens when i try to connect to my router. It scans it no problem and when I select to connect to it under the openelec settings it fails. Any ideas would be most appreciated, thanks.

Just triple check your password and if you have to another device that uses your wifi, log out and log in again to make sure your password is correct. I would reboot your router and modem if that doesn't work.
One other thing if I may, Do you think if I upgraded to 4.97 version it would fix the issue, Looking at the upgrade instructions in the wiki it states to copy 4 files into the upgrade folder and restart.
the 4 files are KERNEL, KERNEL.md5, SYSTEM and SYSTEM.5 but I can not locate these 4 in the Tar file. Only SYSTEM and KERNAL . What exactly is the correct upgrade procedure, thanks
Edit: Re tried it again and its now workingLast edited by Mark142; 08 January 2015, 19:00.

I have something to point out regarding 23.976Hz movies and switching to 24Hz (from another forum):
Is it just me or why is no one wondering, that we only have a choice to chose 24Hz, rather than real 23.976Hz in KODI settings? Watching real 23.976 streams results in micro stuttering every 41.67 secs - does no1 see that? TV switches to 24Hz, thats what the option under KODI is able to output - but not 23.976 - that where the stutter is coming from! Raspberry PI is outputting real 23.976, which is also selectable in the output-settings.
This is what's happening:
When 23,976fps are handled as 24Hz - so 1:1:
The delta between 23,976 and 24,000 is 0,024fps --> 1 sec/ 0,024fps = 41,67 secs. So every 41.67 secs there's has to be a filling-frame set the keep the video in sync - this is what some people recognize as a slight micro-stutter. And it's really happening every 41.67 secs - so if you watch a 2 hour movie, you can calculate for yourself, how many micro-stutters you are seeing,
and this is simply annoying... cuz' it's definitely not smooth.
The Raspberry PI e.g. has 100% smooth playback, outputting 23.976fps material as 23.98Hz - no stutters, no sync problems - nothing.
I'm hoping to reach some of the devs here - is the device not able to output 23.976 material as 23.98Hz and if not - why?
If THAT could be fixed somehow?"
So, firstly, do you notice this micro stuttering every 41st second with 23.98 fps movies? (I did)
Secondly, anyone already fixed it in openelec and how?
EDIT: Someone mentioned a code which need to be put in advancedsettings.xml
Code:<advancedsettings> <video> <latency> <delay>0</delay> <refresh> <min>23</min> <max>24</max> <delay>225</delay> <!-- set to zero or adjust if audio seems out of sync with 24p movies --> </refresh> </latency> </video> </advancedsettings>

Originally posted by noosk View PostI have the same problem. It is most likely because you have a rev1.1 MX unit. You can tell this by looking at the ethernet port on the back of the unit. If the lights are at the top then you unfortunately have one. There are a lot of differences between this model and MX2 clones (rev2.22 i believe) and the most pertinent one is that the power function is controlled by the software, not the hardware. It also seems that they don't support linux kernals higher than 3.0 so OE 4.2.1 is the latest you are able to load with codesnake's releases. OE seems to run okay on these but the splash screens are not usually the correct resolutions and they take longer to boot.
It's difficult to know what you are buying these days. I have an original MX2 also with Openelec 4.2.1 and I never thought to compare.
Are these MX2 clones favourable, is there a preferred purchase other than an original? I was also thinking about buying a M8 4k box now I have a 4k TV.
I had enough of Android running XBMC. Openelec is so much faster and I get a lot less buffering on my MX2.

Edit: just saw you don't have an M8. Worth a try anyway I guess.
