I managed to update to kodi with the .tar file in the end. My problem now is that my HW acceleration does not work on Kodi. I get black screen. When i switch to software acceleration everything is ok. Is there any way to fix it?

I have an M8, currently on XBMC 13.2 and im trying to update to the new version. I download the .tar file, extract it in my FAT32 sd card. I boot the M8 into recovery but it never starts the update. It takes me to the recovery page. When i try manually to locate the update file i get the error of "no such file or directory". Any ideas what im doing wrong?

It's the zip file you need to extract to your sdcard not the .tar file. The .tar file is for manual update through samba share.

I manually select update from sd card but the files are not recognised from the system.
I would really appreciate your help as i have been trying to update for days now with no result.
The error i'm getting when i try to update manually from Recovery is the below:
E:Unable to mount '/sdcard' E:Unable to mount '/data' E:Unable to mount '/sdcard' Installing 'external_sd/s89_root_update.zip'... set_perm: some changes failed E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/external_sd/s89_root_update.zip' Error flashing zip '/external_sd/s89_root_update.zip' Updating partition details... Just unpack this file from OP and copy the extracted files to root of your sdcard. If updating don't start automatically after booting into recovery select "Update from EXT" and choose file "OpenELEC-Amlogic.M8.arm-5.0.3-update.zip". If that don't work maybe try using another sdcard.

Unfortunately, my HW acceleration didn't work. All videos are black. In order to be able to see videos i need to go to System - Settings - Video - Acceleration, and deselect the option "Allow hardware acceleration (amcodec).
I would really appreciate any ideas.Last edited by kakoskm; 09 April 2015, 07:00.
