If so what version did you use?
    Thanks

Hi. Belated Happy New Year to all! Figured I'd give another go at this. Some questions that I've been trying to tackle.

      FIRST THE HARDWARE INFO:
I bought this Tronsmart MXIII 2GB Amlogic S802 a few months ago,

From hours of reading, I'm confused as to what hardware is supposed to be inside (AP6181/AP6210/AP6330 ???). And I'm not handy enough to take it apart to look.
I know the 2GB's hardware is different from the 1GB one... And apparently some of the newer MX3's have a different Wifi chip than older ones (not sure if it only applies to the 1GB one or both)?? And some MXIII's from Tronsmart are the same as the S82 ones from Beelink? So confusing...

      THE QUESTIONS:

      1) How do I know which firmware 'model' will work for me? I'm afraid of bricking this. (Is there a way to brickproof this?)

      2) I'm currently on 5.08 using this firmware: OpenELEC-Amlogic.S82.arm-5.0.8.
Is it worth risking updating with OpenELEC-Amlogic.arm-S82-5.95.5.2-update? or even OpenELEC-Amlogic.arm-S82-6.0.0-update?

      3) Does Bluetooth work for any OpenELEC firmware?

      4) What's the difference between OpenELEC and the Finless ROMs?

      5) I'm using this great skin called Transparency. For some reason, I can't get Youtube (yes, it's enabled) to show in the menu under Addon even though I selected it under custom?

Could people who had firmware upgrade success mention which brand, model & GB they used? Maybe we can get a wiki going. All the confusion about which MX3/S82 post applies is really aggravating. :-(

Thanks, please help before I go nuts.

        Hello, i have a question:

I flashed on my Tronsamrt S89 OpenELEC 6.0.0, works great so far. However, i have the problem that the setting to static IP will not be saved.
I go to the network settings, manual input, give the box the IP adress 192.168.2.210 and save. If i go back and again to settings, it's back to DHCP.
Does anyone know the problem and has a solution?

        Thanks

Edit: With the IP adress 192.168.2.190 it works

I have what appears to be an MX3 however when I load OpenElec 5.0.8 there is no wifi (I have tried turning off wired) and no bluetooth, apart from that all works well
The board in the device is marked MX3-M82-v3.1 and on board appears to be a chip marked AP6234 which I assume is the 6234 WiFi/Bluetooth chip.
Is there any way to load a driver for this chip ?
          Thanks in advance
Try this one Silver, mayby iTS gold

              1. Download this: http://www.amlinux.ru/image/6.0.0/Op...-S82-6.0.0.zip
              2. Unzip the 3 files and copy it at the root of your sd card.
              3. Put the sd card into your box.
              4. Unplug the power to the box
              5. Using a toothpick, insert it into the back of the A/V port until you hear a slight click sound
              6. Holding the botton down, you will plug the box back into the power
              7. The installation starts

I created an OpenElec 7 Beta (forked from Codesnake) for the S82/ S89 Vega Elite devices with 8 GB. It seems to work fine and stable, execept bluetooth is not working.

                Download: http://download.drieschel.de/OpenElec/S82/7.0-devel/
                Sources: https://github.com/drieschel/OpenELEC.tv

                Some feedback would be great!

                Thanks to Kerber for support!

Nice, but I could test Vega 82, my box will not power up, any idea?

What box do you have exactly? How did you try to update? Try the toothpic method.

I tried this on an S89-H. It updated and boots ok, but wifi doesn't appear to work. You can select it in the config add-on and the "please wait" box appears for a few seconds and it then goes back to being off.

That's the reason why I wrote that it is for the 8 GB version. The main differences between the 8GB and the 16 GB version are bt/wifi and the nand size. But I made a libreElec buiild, which is a fork of openElec, where also bt and wifi (hopefully^^) should work on your box.

Here is the link to the build: http://download.drieschel.de/LibreElec/S82/7.0-devel/

I had forgotten that the wifi chip was different. I'll try that version out and see if it's OK.

OK, I've tried the updated version. Wifi now works correctly, however NFS does not work for mounting on boot. NFS doesn't seem to be included in the kernel, as it's not listed under /proc/filestytems.

The NFS client built in to kodi does work however so I can use that as a work around for now.

I can compile the kernel wie NFS client support.

Edit: Redownload the devel version and try.

Thanks - that's working OK now.

So far there aren't any major problems that I've noticed. So far the only thing is that the spinner that appears when kodi is busy doesn't appear to have the correct transparency applied, but it seems to work fine.
