    Hi Mackie,
    Congats !
Maybe it could make enough sense if we could have the kernel part of your tree put in a (new) git ?

Your firmware seems today the most ready for prime time and other tablets could derive just their kernel from yours the way you derived the original M8HD for your m6pro

    Wadayathink ?

        Testing the Maakie ROM (141109)

        Hi Maakie,

I downloaded and installed your ROM (141109) and will give feedback on my experiences, my remarks are always meant as helpful feedback, never criticism.

After the installation I tried to 'root' the tablet, (you gave the impression that a rooted version would come later) with Kingo root. It said it was already rooted, I rooted it anyway, and that worked.

Then I tried to restore my Titanium backup made on RR1.8.2, that worked only when I restored the missing Apps and data. A full restore (missing system and apps and data) I tried first, would 'hang' on different stages of the restore. (I might have to flash again to have a 'clean' OS before the apps+data restore)

I updated the GPS-conf-file with fasterGPS, and I tested with GPStest. It see's the GPS unit (location sign is showing in top right screen corner), it took about three minutes to get the first 3D fix, seeing 9 sat's, using 6.

I will work with the listed 'test-protocol' and give feedback according to the list.

Many thanks four your (and your colleagues! of course) efforts,

        Regards,

        satbeginner

          Thanks for the report.

No matter which ROM you are flashing, I never recommend doing a complete system restore from Titanium. What you are doing is in effect putting old system files in place of the newer files...causing an unreliable system. Only do Restore Missing Apps with Data.

It's great to know GPS is working.

Stay tuned for a rooted version as soon as I hear Maakie say this firmware is final.

            Hi Riley,

I too figured it was the wrong way to go, so I reflashed a virgin Maakie 141109 and did as much testing as possible without installing anything, just configuring when needed.
Then I started to install step-by-step only what I needed for testing, and here are my first results:

Pipo M6Pro testresult Maakie ROM 141109:

            - LCD OK, default resolution set to HD
            - Touchscreen OK, seems to have normal response
            - Audio OK, playback of 320kbps MP3 is OK, recording and playback of movie with sound is OK
            - Rotation OK, does rotate when I rotate my device

            - WIFI OK, connect to my Tomato 54Mbps router, no problem

            - audio (micro, headphone) OK, build-in Mic does work, headphone OUT does work as well.
            - Automatic Brightness NOT OK, does DIM, but does NOT go brighter
            - Sensors (use App like Z device to test compass, gravity, Light sensor etc)
Some OK, used CPU-Z to test:
            Gravity sensor OK,
            Compass field sensor OK,
Compass Orientation sensor OK (left side of tablet is North?),
            Gyroscope sensor OK,
            Rotation Vector Sensor OK,
            Linear Acceleration Sensor OK.

Light Sensor Not OK? or Not Found?
Pressure Sensor Not OK? or Not Found?

            - MIRACAST OK, works with a LG 47" Led LCD TV

            Extra functions
            - root Not OK, device is not rooted yet, as we knew. Now OK, I easily rooted with Kingo ROOT

            - init.d support Not tested
            - overclocking kernel Not tested. (My device is a very unlucky one. With other ROM's sometimes it would experience the Sleep Of Death, let's see what happens with this new ROM)

            General
I installed Titanium Backup to restore some Apps.
This Ttanium install told me the device is not rooted, so I used Kingo Root to do the job.
Although Kingo ROOT says: ROOT Status: Yes. I choose ROOT Again. Succeeded!! Reboot.
            Now it IS rooted

USB: The USB seems to be A LOT FASTER when copying file to the tablet? Is it really USB-2 now?

So far my results. I will restore my Titanium backup now, just Apps + Data.

            Un saludo from Spain,

            Satbeginner

I have the Sumvision cyclone voyager 2 version of the Pipo M6 Pro.
                  GPS only works outdoors.
                  Compass is reversed i.e N = S etc.
Some apps I have used on version 1.8 kk are now not compatible according to google.

                  Thanks for all your work.

I think that the M6Pro doesn't have these sensors and the lack of light sensor is why automatic brightness doesn't work completely.

                      M6 Max is a possibility.

Testing the Maakie ROM (141109) Part-2

                        Hi all,

just an update on my tests of yesterday:

yesterday I restored all my apps + data from a Titanium backup, and so far everything works.

Since this is still a 'bare' version of the ROM (Maakie ROM 141109), as an addition I installed No-Frills CPU to change the governor to "hotplug" (Maybe something for the final version?).
Having 'hotplug' is mainly a personal preference, I think it makes the tablet just that bit 'snappier', without using to much extra of the battery. (may even be less!)

I also use the "Hacker's Keyboard", again for personal reasons. I just like having a full blown keyboard with both letters and numbers as well, with having the possibility of easy switching between languages. I my case Dutch, English and Spanish.

Extra information on the Miracast: it really seems to work OK, also the LG-app to use the tablet as a Remote Control for my TV over WiFi does work perfect.

I performed a few AnTuTu-tests (v5.2.0) , and they average between 23550 and 24630, which I never had with any earlier ROM and/or kernel!

Rumor says that RRiley is working on a complete version with all his magic in it?

                        Looking forward to it!!

                        Un saludo from Spain,

I took Maakie's firmware with d33's kernel and added:

                          Autoinstall
                          Boot Animation by Tatty
                          Busybox
                          Rooted with Koushik's Superuser
Added things to the ROM kit I've always added
Added TWRP recovery to install after first boot
                          Google Play Store fixes
                          Some Build Prop Tweaks
                          Added Multi-user Support
Added a bunch of parameter files
Added the First Time User's Guide

                          Download

I've tested it on my M6 Pro. Everything seems to be working well. I haven't done an Antutu yet.

                          Please post your findings.

Working great so far Randy. I got 24500 with latest Antutu. Seems quick and clean so far.

I've loaded up about 100 apps, so I will be doing a lot of app compatibility testing over the next few days.

Only thing I've noticed so far is that the tablet hasn't spent any time in deep sleep. I will be watching this more, I currently have a small sample size.

Love the new boot screen! Thank you and the team for this. I believe we will finally realize the potential these tablets have had all along.

Edit : There is a typo in settings-> bluetooth. Says M8HD

We used Pipo's M8HD sources as a base for this firmware...so M8HD's will appear in several places, I'm afraid.
