so let me help you out , i was to a person that just bought one of these devices and then saw tons of files.

So i have the same unit MXIII 4K - This unit can be flashed with finless custom rom and also openelec.
the 2GB unit runs S82 roms , as the 1GB runs the MX3 roms


just follow the steps in the read me and the unit will flash to custom rom

Yes you should.Thats because your divice is rooted.Super su grants privileges to progammes.

Yes update it but select normal it will ask to reboot once done it's needed for some of bobs tweets

Same issue here.

Reason imo:
Changelog OFW 111k4: 4.Compatible with our R89 IR Remote;

Therefor is a new file in \etc\, named remotesecond.conf. Rename it in remotesecond.conf.bak or delete it, and it works again normaly.

It's a while ago since your comment, but thanks, you were right.
I renamed that file which instantly solved the IR remote interference issues.

I'm gonna say no, in so far as the Minix Neo x8 plus is NOT the same thing as the Minix Neo x8-H Plus.
They may both have the same AP-6335, and the S812 SoC. But, only the S812H SoC can do HEVC >2160p in Hardware, the same as most other "H" Versions (e.g. The S802H), I gather the Non- "H" Versions can otherwise only do HEVC <720p MAX! in Software!

I haven't really priced non "H" S812's so I don't know off the top of my head how much cheaper these are. The Minix NEO x8-H Plus however goes for about 150.00€(EUR)'s. So I'd kinda expect the non-"H" Versions to be quite a bit cheaper. But if its (As likely the case of ~20-ish Euros.). Then its a no brainier get the the "H" Version.

I have a probox2 EX, physically the box looks exactly the same as the MXIII, the only difference I know of is the probox has a 16GB ROM. And from youtube reviews the stock ROM looks very similar to mine, with a slightly different appearance in the tile launcher. It should be (relatively) safe to try this finless ROM on my device, yes?

Without knowing what SoC you have... And even then I would recommend caution. By your argument I should be able to flash older S82 (2G/8G), Firmwares on my M82 (1G/8G) Device.... However doing so WILL BRICK the Device, and the only difference besides the additional 1G of RAM. would be the different WiFi Chip used in the S82 Versions. Otherwise AFAIK they both have the same S802 SoC, and Mali 450 GPU.

So don't go by just looks alone...
And, be sure you have a way to recover in the unlikely event it should Brick the Device.
