fcp.08 Judging by the pictures you send I find it strange that the HD18Q rom isn't working... According to the specs of the RTL8188ETV it's an USB based chip and since my board uses the same chip and works perfectly fine I'm wondering if there isn't something else going wrong...
Although my board has a higher revision and differs slightly from yours...
The only thing I can imagine is that on your revesion of the HD18Q board the wifi chip is connected through gpio. But I'm lacking the proper knowledge to verify that...
So again my question, are you ABSOLUTLY sure that the wifi works properly with the stock rom?
For example if you have a look at this image you can see that the wifi chip board that is used in your device is based on an usb interface...

This is way over the technical thinking for me...
I have gone back to 5.08.20 hd18q rom ... playpack of live tv way much smoother... anyone know of commands that i might try and see if we can get this wifi working.... apart from that i am so happy with this unoffical openelec for the mxq .... great work you geniuses. .!

You could put a drop of flux on each of the contact points and do a quick dab of solder to make sure they all have good contact with the mainboard.

As of ubuntu 15.04 they've changed the md5deep package and this issue has been resolved in the main OE git repo a few days ago.
What I needed to do to get a working environment is to install these packages:
- build-essential
- gcc-multilib
then apply the patch attached to this post in order to fix the md5deep issue.
Clean and restart building.

Hello everyone. I'm sorry for being absent for such a long time and I need to ask you for some more patience - today I am leaving for my honeymoon and I'll be back after 10th November.
It's very nice to see you helping each other in this thread. You're also welcome to post suggestions and pull requests for future builds which I'll review when I'm back. Custom builds are also welcome.
I am also very grateful for donations I received. As there has been very little work on my side recently, I forwarded them to Kodi and OpenELEC teams. I hope donors don't mind.
