This is a sticky topic.

The realtek drivers available in the ROMS are:
RTL8188EU
RTL8192CU
RTL8192DU
RTL8812AU
From which one at least should work I guess...
Realtek drivers tend to seize the wrong device, so it could be that just the wrong diver is used for the module...
Could you SSH in the box and see which device comes up at lsusb? And figure out which module is used as driver?
Enother thing is that I have an all black MXQ aswell and flashing the MXQ rom screwed over my device... OpenElec did work, but I couldn't flash anything anymore. I had to revert back to the stock android rom using the Amlogic flash tool and OTG port on the device. After that I flashed the HD18Q rom and all was fine.
Mine has a board version of : S805_MXQ_V2.1_150516 and has a RTL8188ETV chip (but is recognised as a RTL8188EU).
So maybe it would be best to start over fresh by flashing the stock rom using the Amlogic flash tool and confirm that everything is working correctly. After that flash the HD18Q rom again to see if that one works...
If not we'll start from there.
Also, if you could provide a working stock rom that would be helpfull aswell...
To everyone else regarding the silence of kszaq: he hasn't left us, he's just really busy and will return somewhere in the second half of november.Last edited by Spekkie; 23 October 2015, 10:07.

Hello.
Perhaps someone will be able to help me. Some time ago I have installed kszaq's version of openelec 5.95.5.1 on my black MXQ (OTT). To be able still to use Android, I have installed openelec to sd card. The box was working as expected - I was able to use Android (without sd card) and OpenElec when booting with sd card. I haven't been using much MXQ at that time, but now I wanted to upgrade it to 5.95.5.2. Unfortunately, something strange has happened because I'm not able to boot from NAND (Android) now at all. What is interesting I'm able to boot still Openelec from sdcard - but.. BUT remote is not working at all. I have checked batteries and remote itself - it is transmitting something with IR - I have checked it using my smartphone camera. I still can ssh login to openelec.
1. Do you know how can I restore MXQ to factory settings or at least restore NAND with Android?
2. Is it safe now to upgrade to newer version of openelec? IMO no.
3. How to make remote work again?
4. How to safely shutdown openelec? Perhaps that was the reason, that something got wrong? I was using openelec menu to shutdown the box, but all i've got was just black screen. I was just disconnecting the power after that step.
I will really appreciate help.

Are you SURE you have flashed the HD18Q build (which is the proper one for your device)?
I made the mistake myself by flashing the MXQ build and ended up the same way as you describe.
The MXQ bootloader screwed up the device in such a way that I couldn't use the recovery.img to flash the proper rom.
I ended up using the Amlogic burning tool over OTG to flash back the stock rom. After that I used the HD18Q SD build to boot OE from SD all is fine again.

Spekkie I'm quite sure that I have flashed proper version of openelec. Everything was working ok.Perhaps also in my case the bootloader has been corrupted. Is there any simple method of restoring MXQ bootloader without using Amlogic burning tool? If no, where can I download this tool and what is more important some recent Android image to install it back to NAND?

falc0n24 Like I said, OE from SD was perfectly fine when I flashed the MXQ bootloader, however android refused to boot from nand and the recovery was unable to mount certein places to do a proper flash.
This is the link for the flash tool from my google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzh...ew?usp=sharing
Just keep in mind that the OTG port also provides power to the device.
So first start the tool, then use a toothpick method, but use the OTG for power instead of the regular power supply.
After that the device should show up in the Amlogic flash tool. (this could take up to a minute or so)
About the rom, I'm not sure. Since there are apparently many versions of the HD18Q. I got mine from geekbuying.com and they provided a rom for my device...
I can provide you that rom if you'd like, but I'm not sure if it's the right one for your device...
