[ROM] Unofficial OpenELEC for MK808B+ and MXQ

HELP ! I have flashed the all black MXQ with OpenELEC-Amlogic.HD18Q.arm-5.0.8.19 (toothpick method) which I managed to get working but then, after setting it all up, I went to shut it down, it shutdown but left the blue light on but the remote cannot start the box again. Shutting down with the remote causes the same issue. The only way to start the box is to unplug it and plug it in again.

So, OK I thought, I'll just try another image BUT now the toothpick method doesn't work. There is no MXQ bootup logo, so perhaps there is no bootloader that can load the recovery from SD ? I am quite new to this so please can someone tell me how to recover the box. Or is it just stuck with this one image now ? (hope not !)

PS Is it correct behaviour to get a new IP address each time it boots up (different MAC perhaps each time) ? If not, how can I change this ?

My way to update it is to install 5.0.8.19 , and then use the .tar file of 5.95.3.1 to update in OpenELEC with following method

Well I already tried a slightly later file HD18Q-5.95.3.2 which I guess would be similar. The problem with that one for me was that the red light stayed constant (ok no big deal) but the remote would not work (which was a deal breaker), however, the remote for my MX3 worked on it - go figure - and so I found the share Configfiles/rc_keymaps and put what I thought was the correct (MXQ) remote.conf in there but that didn't work - shouldn't the remote.conf be in <root>/etc ?? Anyway, I gave up on OpenElec for my OTT MXQ as whatever I tried I always ended up with either no remote or no ability to turn it back on without a hard unplug/replug as there is no on/off button on the OTT MXQ.

So I read some other posts on here and found a simple fix to the lack of bootloader problem which was to SSH into the box from the PC and type reboot recovery and that got me into the android recovery screen and I was able to restore a stock recovery image for android and then set that up to boot directly into a customised TVMC.

Its not the ideal solution I would have liked, and uses much more overhead, but I just couldn't find the right combination of OpenElec+Whatever fixes were needed for my OTT MXQ to make it everyday-useable. Perhaps the problem is that there are so many different versions of MXQ that it is difficult for the image developers to focus in on a constant build that encompasses MAC Address+Remote+SoftStandy/Shutdown issues - whatever I did, at least one of these 3 was an issue.

Do you mean the <cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize> setting? I don't see the point in using this on openELEC since you have plenty of free RAM to cache to. Contrary to RAM memory, the amount of times a sector in flash memory can be overwritten is limited. So always caching to NAND (or SD Card) will slowly destroy your memory. If you have buffering problems, try increasing the amount it caches to RAM. e.g. <cachemembuffersize>83886080</cachemembuffersize> will use 4 times the amount of cache (80mb instead of 20mb).

I find that still settings the cachemembuffersize to 0 is the best setting. This way you can pause and let the cache build up. I use it on all my M8 boxes (Kerber 5.0.8 build) and it overwrites the filecache.000 files in the 'kodi/temp' folder. How would this destroy the memory?

I had an issue today. Watching a movie, everything was good, suddenly the movie goes black with no sound, UI still works but I can't press on anything. Nothing happens. I press home on the remote and the box locks up.

You can install the 5.95 beta version of OpenELEC. This one comes with Kodi 15. You can find it here http://s805.eu/releases/5.95.3.1/. But keep in mind it is a beta version, so there may be bugs.

- sportsdevil works but streaming in all channels is 'too fast", I mean with 'helio' voices and accelerated video..
- no p2p work in my env. how to right install and test it?

I have a question, here in my MXQ I can run perfectly for the SD card, but when I try install this in the NAND I received the error:

Verifying update package...
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.


How can I fix this and install this version in the NAND?

Thanks. Then, the problem is on my TV. I's quite old (2009).

With this version (.19) in the MXQ the bluetooth doesn´t work at all.

Another annoying problem (in OpenELEC´s almost versions) is that the scroll whell doesn´t work. Any fix for this?
