Did you find the links and look at the procedure and update file I linked to? Mouse over the phrases I mentioned in my previous post and the link text will be highlighted, but it should look like that even when not pointed to.

Do you know how to get this tablet to read the update.zip file? Does it have to be named in a certain way?
Since I am a moderator I edited your post and no links are in it. Try not using the URL tag. Just paste the direct link in the post. When you save it, it should be fine. If you look at my post just above yours it has a link and it works.

That site has no AMlogic ROMs?

But I do not think I need it anyway. I will try to make a zip package today that is not a ROM but a updater.

I hope we can get this info!

I need to know how system is mounted (what format). My Ramos is UBIFS but this maybe something else.

Someone please open a terminal and type mounts
          ANd send me the info.

OK never mind. Lets try UBIFS and see if it works.

This is NOT a ROM this is simply a update.zip that will deploy su binary to /system/bin and deploy Superuser.apk to /system/app

If this works you should be rooted!

            1) Copy update.zip to either the ROOT of your external SDcard or to the root of your internal SDcard. It does not really matter. You do NOT need to have a external SDcard for this to work.
            2) Go into your APPs list and click on the "upgrade" application.
This is provided in most AMlogic ROMs.
            3) The upgrade APP should find update.zip automatically either on internal or external SDcard. Click the update.zip
            4) Now click Reboot and install package.
            5) The system will boot into recovery (green Android man) and do it's thing!
            6) If all goes well, it will reboot and you should be rooted!

Choose the option for "Local Upgrade" as opposed to "Network upgrade" and it'll give you a list of zip files. Choose the one you want, it'll then reboot into recovery and go through the install process. Everything I've tried via that method has resulted in a "Whole file signature verification failed" error, but that was for items like Google Apps or the Market / Play store. This zip containing the SU binary / apk may or may not fail at the same signature verification (I don't have the tablet with me so I can't check until late tonight).
Hah! I wondered what that was for but didn't make the connection. Do we know how to get into recovery mode without that app, in case we are lucky enough to come up with a new ROM?

I tried the update I found earlier today but I got the same error:

              E:Bad bootloader arguments
              "(null)"
              Finding update package...
              Opening update package...
              Verifying update package...
              E:Failed to verify whole-file signature
              E:signature verification failed
              Installation aborted.

Bob, is there something we can do to get the signature right for this tablet? Can you put together a similar update file that will pass signature verification?

Recovery mode access is pretty standard: Turn device off, hold down the "Volume -" button and turn it on. It'll boot into a stock recovery. I've also gotten into another mode (flash or fastboot?) by turning the tablet off, holding down both volume buttons, and plugging in the USB cable (again, with the device turned off). I think Debugging has to be enabled but when the cable is plugged in windows will recognize it and look for drivers. I haven't been able to get past that point, because the drivers I used to get ADB access won't work for this mode and other generic Amlogic 8726-M3 drivers I've tried also will not work.

Wish I had brought the tablet with me... Won't be able to test until later tonight. Hopefully it gets past the signature verification! I posted this over in an XDA thread, but below is the mounted blocks via cat /proc/mtd command. EDIT: I was poking around the system folder in the included Astro file manager and Root Explorer looking at config files, permissions, and such. I found a few files referencing YAFFS file system but I wasn't paying very close attention and the references might have just been normal Android system files.

At the top should be a pull down menu and you can select download.

cat /proc/mtd doesnt help me. This does not list format.

I need you to simple do a mounts command.

                          Try this update

I am hoping this will work. Removed signature verification and ROM version check.

Since I do not know the format system is mounted I used UBIFs like my Ramos W13.

I just tried it twice and got the same error as before - failed to verify whole-file signature. I also tried loading it from the external SD card and got the same error.

                                Let me know,
                                Bob

after the successful download the auto popup appears and says °not supported file°
