I think this is going to work for you guys but we shall see! Because it is booting recovery from SDcard IT SHOULD NOT Brick your tablet! But no gaurentee!!!!

    Download this package:

    1) erase and format your SDcard so you know you have a nice clean one.
    2) Unzip this download package and put ALL the files on the root of your SDcard.
    aml_autoscript
    uImage
    uImage_cwm
    update_root_ext3.zip
    3) Boot into recovery using the buttons DO NOT use the APP from the OS.
    4) In recovery use menu apply update from sdcard and select the update_root_ext3.zip
    5) Watch for errors when it is apllying package and let me know if you get any.
    6) reboot using recovery menu.

If all goes well you SHOULD be rooted now.

Damn, it didn't even start the install for me. Did you copy it over to internal /sdcard directory or a microSD when you tried? A week or two ago I was in a similar mode where I thought it was bricked but I was able to get back into stock recovery and do a factory reset and it was fine after that... Hopefully that's the case with yours.

Please explain exactly what happened step by step and where it bricked. It should not have bricked.

Also to unbrick removed SDcard and hold power button for like 15 seconds which should ofrce power off. Then try power on again.

This did not replace uboot so it should not have bricked.

ozymandiaz, this procedure will not work from intrnal sdcard! It will only work from an external sdcard.

The fact that recovery booted from internal is a good sign!

Eegor, I need to know what your got step by step please. What happened etc.

I put it the files on a new external uSD card (not SDHC - 512MB), reformatted via settings first.

Then I powered off, pressed vol - and power. It did nothing at all, and when I connected it to USB there was no charge LED! Tried on AC adapter and still no LED.

I pressed reset for 15 seconds using a safety pin and now I am back. No external card inserted yet.

EDIT: Popped in the uSD card and the tab became unresponsive again. Will it try to apply the update as soon as the card is mounted? That's what appears to be happening.

Somehting went wrong with your setup. The fact that ozymandiaz got my recovery to boot shows some other problem with you. Try formatting sdcard using a PC not the tablet. Copy the files to SDcard using a PC to make sure no corruption.

                    Try again.

I'm trying that now. Formatting the uSD card in my PC, should I use FAT32?

I already formatted FAT. Put the files on it, inserted the card. It is mounted and no hangup.

Tried power and vol- buttons and it is unresponsive again.

                          Reset and tab is booting.

I'm going to try again with another uSD card - 2GB FAT32.

EDIT: No joy with brand-new 2GB FAT formatted (that is how it came). The tab does exactly the same thing. I'll go ahead and reformat FAT32 and try again, but it doesn't look good.

BTW, I can run the upgrade app as well and it sees your update_root_ext3.zip file. When I reboot the tab to install the update, it hangs in exactly the same way! I haven't tried putting it in the internal SDCARD directory, though.

                          EDIT2: Still no good.

                          1) Formatted 2GB uSD card FAT32 on PC
                          2) copied four files to the uSD card via PC: aml_autoscript, uImage, uImage_cwm, update_root_ext3.zip
                          3) With power off, inserted uSD card into slot of tablet
                          4) Hold vol- and power buttons... nothing happens, tablet is hung until I reset it.

Hmmmm try removing the file uImage from the sdcard. Leave uImage_cwm

                            See what that does.

BTW, this didn't work - it is the first thing I tried. Only thing that works to bring this thing back is the reset button - through a pinhole on the back of the tab. It is definitely in some kind of weird, low-level state if the power LED does not come on when it is plugged in.

Meanwhile I'm in spectator mode... Tore apart an entire house worth of gadgets and I don't have a single microSD card... All of my other phones / tablets are Nexus brand sans microSD slot. I'm digging around looking for an old MP3 player that I know has a 2gig card in it but am drawing a blank. It might be in my wife's car but she's out and about at the moment.
