also from what ive found out is that uboot is some type of filesystem like jssfr or something like that.. this is what i think not sure though. i think that the uboot is hiding the filesystems protecting them from bieng rooted..like the ext 3 volume you found in the build prop file. so its like we need a uboot filesystem buster, and the busy box,sh files is allowing us to see / files.
last week i tried 5 differnt linux distros on my laptop so i could get to the busybox cmds and try pushing some files that way. i dont have a uefi bios so after it was installed i got a empty linux desktop.
are any of you using linux? I ran into a hard drive or usb drive cloning tool that is used in linux. it made a claim to clone any usb drive so i thought what the hell maybe it can make a clone .img file of this android tablet. Is called hot copy .. look it up on google and see what you think. its free .

          Bob,

My build.prop is in the build.prop forum thread if you'd like to reference it.

I've got 3 of these new Amlogic models. I'm going to re-read this thread and then try a few things...

                Bob,

Mascondante over at XDA managed to completely wipe his Amlogic Nextbook using some sort of low level amlogic flash tool that he found.

I'm willing to bet he'd be happy to test a custom boot.img if you could make one.

Im going to post some links with some different su filesfor rooting amlogic devices .. this one is for linux using a file called psneuter using adb and busybox to push the file .. maybe the cmnds will work.. who knows .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966624 ...

this one is root with restore by binary .. i pressed option 1 .. nothing, option 2 it wouldnt boot all the way .. option 3 .. nothing .. it almost worked .. had to reset and wipe and do a clean install .. that was a week ago .. it was just updated today .. im downloading it right now .. I hope it works .. heres the link ..
Hi, i made a small script which is able to root ICS/JB phones. It uses a remount timing issue in Androids "adb restore" service. So normally it should work on nearly all ICS/JB devices, for some it won't but the idea may work in a slightly...

heres a link for different arm uboot bootloaders .. I think ours is listed there somewhere near the bottom of the page .. http://openlinux.amlogic.com/wiki/in...rm/Boot_Loader .. maybe we can trick the device by loading a rooted bootloader ..
this one is called Tiny su made for arm devices ..

I hope some of these work or give someone some good ideas to root this thing .. You guys Rock .. Keep up the Awesome work. I know eventually we will root this thing ..

finless do you think we could try the aml_autoscript to try an boot from the sd card, then inject the su from there? or maybe use the aml_autoscript and the uImage together??

I am looking into the SDcard recovery method for recovering a bricked AMLogic device. This might be a way but it is not clear on the correct way tomake this special formatted sdcard. I also am afraid to use it on my tablet as if you hose the internal uboot, thats it!

This should be a workable method. I don't fully understand the SD Boot process either, but there are lots of threads around the net about creating bootable SD Cards for Amlogic devices. It looks to me like you can run uboot, recover, android system and all from SD. There is a tool called SDTool that seems to be used to help setup the SD Card for Amlogic devices.

OK I made the sdcard recovery and tested it. SCARY but it worked!

Now the issues. The sdcard recovery ERASES all NAND. So this is not good for us as we want root not an erased NAND.
So I could possibly make a new autoscript that does not erase nand but I do not know how. It is not just a simple script. It has some bianry info in the start of it. Seems it has to be compiled or something. So now I must research this.

FYI I was able to make a locked down ROM like yours and cant root it manually. Obviously I can using my update.zip which does work for me because my recovery is generic not locked down.

So I am still trying guys but this is a BEOCH!
