Screen goes black for a couple seconds

    I am running Finless 1.7c, with Mele F10 mouse/keyboard.

When using the device, the screen will go black for a few seconds, and then come back. The video keeps playing in the background, so it isn't completely frozen, but the display goes black, and then comes back in a few seconds, and seems like it is recognized by my TV again (pops up a box that says 720p).

    Any suggestions?

@justanick : Your USB flash drive isn't one of the 'secure' ones with built in encryption and/or write protection is it?

mk808: USB IR dongle - Logitech Harmony remote??

First of all, thank you so much guys for the work you are doing.

I am a newbie to this device. I searched with no success in forums, I atribute it to "operator error". Please point me if this is already answered somewhere clearly.

I have a Logitech remote and USB IR dongle that I use on my windows HTPC. Is there a way to get that setup to work with mk808. I plugged in, it didnt seem recognize IR dongle. Does it need drivers or something?

Do you know if this is a possibility.

I am so used to living with one harmony remote that I dont like to have another remote just for this.

Just wanna follow up on this. I tried using the 2A power supply I bought along with the device but still I got the game stop responding and force close. IN addition, I attempted to run antutu benchmark, but my stick would freeze right away when I tried to open the app .... any idea why?

Edit: reading up on what leolas said in the previous post, I think I may do some more experiment with "better" power supply before bitchin' about this stupid freezing issue. Though, if anyone else have any other thoughts or ideas, feel free to chime in =)

Edit2: I loaded my stock ROM and it can run antutu just fine ... I guess my timing power rk3066 does not really like finless 1.7 afterall..

The one that comes with the MK808 is absolute inferior.(or with almost all other androidsticks) and in my opinion unsafe.

I have tested 3 standard MK808 powersupplies and not 1 of them gave 2A.

            All three powersupplies died :

The first after a week, I plugged it in the power socket and there was a flash and it was dead.
The second after 10 days, I wanted to plug in but a condensor fell of the PCB.
The third after 2 weeks, first I heard a crackling noise, then a flash and poof..

I also benchmarked using various power supplies :

            TV USB port 0.5A ( Philips 37PFL5603D/10 ) - Boot=loop / Antutu=fail / Epic Citadel=fail
            Samsung 1A phonecharger - Boot=oké / Antutu=crash / Epic Citadel=crash
            TV USB port 1.5A ( LG 42LM620S ) - Boot=oké / Antutu=oké / Epic Citadel=26fps
            PC USB port 2A (Samsung R510 AS02 NL) - Boot=oké / Antutu=oké / Epic Citadel=32+fps
            2.2A high quality adapter - Boot=oké / Antutu=oké / Epic Citadel=32+fps

            conclusion :

Stable 2.0A or higher powersupply is mandatory for optimal performance.

With 1.5A power the MK808 works properly and stable but 3D graphics such as Epic citadel performs a lot less (+/- 25%).

A lot of people experience unstable Android Sticks, but I bet if they replace inferior power adapter and HDMI cable most sticks will work much better.

I would not leave the chinese powersupply unsupervised running overnight, if you open one and look inside you know why..

Interesting post, CannaBioD. I was already aware how important a good power supply is (I've just ordered a new one), but didn't realize how much a bad one can affect performance.

i'm in Sydney Australia .. where can I order a decent 2A adapter ? I ordered two from geekbuying site 5V 2A but then saw the device already comes with 5V 2A adapter. I know there's plenty of adapters out there but I don't want to make a mistake and buy a cheapie.

I ordered mine from Amazon. We discussed a few in this thread:

The key thing is you're going to have to pay a few extra quid/bucks for a decent one. The cheap ones are cheap for a reason!

well i just flashed the 1.7c to a 808b with 4.2.2 and i don't have wifi. Seems that i can't find a solution so i will try again the same rom and come back with results.
edit : i kind of confused right now. I think i downgrade the android version with the 1.7c i installed. The wifi continues not to work. I think i have the original 808b (not sure) as i bought it from geekbuying. Any ideas about my next step? How i will put the original 4.2.2?

1.7c is for mk808, for mk808b is 1.7, they are basically the same rom.

                            This one:

                            or this one:

The above is from Belkin .. can't we get them here ? Are they too expensive locally.

I ordered the one in your fist link: Amazon Basics model. I can't recommend it yet as I have yet to receive and test it out, but the Amazon reviews look good. Can't you get Amazon stuff in Oz?

The Belkin one does look quality but there are no reviews for it yet on Amazon. Belkin is a well known make. You should be able to get it from somewhere more local, I imagine.

Apparently, the PSU for the PS Vita can be used, too. Have a read of leolas's thread, here:
