    SKYPE bug w/ Finless 2.1

Lemme know if this is happening to anyone else and if so what you did about it. I've got a logitech C170 webcam hooked up to my MK808B running Finless 2.1. Skype is set to "enable video" and "autoanswer". I am deploying 85 of these units into homes where I do home health care. My patients are a million years old and most of them still chip messages into stone tablets so expecting them to know how to answer or manipulate the MK808B is a dead end . . . it has to autoanswer and "just work" like the TV on "The Jetson's". Unfortunately when I call the MK808B it correctly autoanswers, but to my disappointment the tiny little box where you're supposed to be looking at yourself is swapped with the big full screen area where you're supposed to be looking at the person you're video chatting with. So you're essentially chatting with yourself. Somehow they got switched around and I can't unswitch them. Not sure what to do here. If it were sitting in my house I'd just double tap the "little box" and it would swap boxes, but my Grandmother won't be able to handle that. Anyone able to help me out here?

BTW outside of this little glitch, which is probably operator error this ROM is sweet!! Thanks BOB!!

This is the Skype APP with Android... EMail them and ask!
      No ROM will fix this.

Are you planning to make an Android 4.2.2 for MK808b clone? I've tried to flash Finless 2.1 on my clone device and I only got problem with wifi and BT. Can't u fix that?

I figured that was probably the case. I emailed SKYPE today and I chatted with one of their tech guys earlier in the day . . . we'll see what happens . . . . also tried a modded SKYPE apk and that didn't work. . . I was able to use a Measy U2C running stock and I didn't get that problem so I was hopeful it was just a little glitch in the rom, but I wasn't very optimistic. Back to the U2C for now I guess unless anyone has any ideas. Can anyone else confirm that they have the same problem?

I went back to the 2.0 rom, I need to be on 4.2.2 to have the time warner cable app working. Video playback in the 2.0 rom is much smoother

Well, malfrat, this image file is 100% identical to the one Geekbuying uploaded before and which according to messages here does not work. We have to wait for Geekbuying to upload one which is not corrupt.

Has anyone gotten a dual band 5ghz usb wifi stick to work? If so, do you know what stick and possibly have a Ko for it? :-)

                    Multi user - lock screen

Do you have any news about multiple user possibility in this rom? There seems to be no lock screen. I see someone has already asked, but no solution was given. Or is it not possible? It would be great if my kids could log in to their own account and only read their own email.
Thank you for making this thing become better and better! Your work is greatly appreciated.

                      Happy with 2.1

Thank you Bob, for this fine work.

Got my MK808B yesterday and gave the stock ROM only a short try.

Thanks to the meaningful instructions, flashing the images worked like a charm.

First I used your defaults, but had some strange behaviours (e.g. Media database could not be build, Gallery always empty).
Then I used the "parameter4gb" and everything worked fine.

My MK808B is connected to a Motorola Atrix Lapdock, which has a resolution of 1366x768. This is near to 720p, but not precisely.
Up to now, I did not found out how to adjust this.

It was not possible to argue the system setting to properly use the German Keyboard of the Lapdock. Also the Android virtual keyboard always popped up on every input field.
Both problems were solved by an app called "External Keyboard Helper" from the Play Store.

The default launcher (not the "NEW" one) did not memorize the background picture. After reboot I always had the "green leaf" back.
Because I use "Nova Launcher" on all my Androids, I also installed it to the MK808B and had no wallpaper issues anymore.

Another app from the store offers useful tweaks: "ROM Toolbox Pro".
I set the maximum CPU speed to 1.2GHz and did not notice any lags or stutters.
The Battery of my lapdock services the MK808B for 5½ hours now.

Altogether: "Finless ROM 2.1" is a masterpiece.
WiFi works, Bluetooth works, everything easy and smooth.

There is only one question left: How could I navigate in recovery mode?
Not so important as it does not offer a NAND-backup, but I wonder where to find these "Volume up/down" keys.

Cool! Thanks and I am glad your enjoying the ROM.

Since none of these sticks have recovery system your thinking of, there is not up/down combo to get into it!

In my ROM is the Petrus reboot APP. You can reboot to recovery. Alas the stock recovery will not do what your expecting and give you a dead Android guy with a red box on top. Rockchip has NEVER supported a recovery system like other devices. They have a flashing method that, I am pretty sure, they feel they don't need to support a recovery system other than it formatting NAND after a ROM flash!

So if you want a recovery system like what your questioning, your going to have to install a CWM. No Rockchip recovery system to date allow a full REAL recovery system. Although, using the reboot APP on 4.2.2, will give you a recovery menu. Just don't expect much from it!

                          Is my MK808B bricked?

                          I think I bricked my MK808B

I completed the process and after "Erase NAND" and "FLash ROM" my device is not booting back up. There's no blue LED light on anymore either.

I had to use the reset button to install the drivers since the first two methods didn't work. After I installed drivers, rebooted pc, use reset button again to get into the flash mode I was able to see "Found RKAndroid...." but I never pressed "Reboot to Flash Mode". Was I supposed to?

I have gone back in the tool kit and did another "Erase NAND" and "Flash ROM" (This time I used 1080P kernel and boot, everything went smooth again, no errors, but still my device won't boot back up. Anybody knows how to fix this issue?

Try to reflash. Be sure that if you flash only boot and Kernel uses the same parameters file than the Rom you have installed

I,ve upgraded from 1.7 to 2.1. And I saw there is no option for "Auto hide systembar" in "Display" settings. This was very usefull in 1.7, espscially when using XBMC. Hidding the statusbar manually after starting XBMC causes misalignments between mouse pointer and highlited button.
I know, there are on the market, apps for doing that. But in 1.7 you have that option by default in system settings.

Got my MK808B yesterday and gave the stock ROM only a short try.
Which ROM and Kernel do they deliver now? Already the new one or still the Beta? If it is the new one, did you make a backup, it might be interesting if the ROM is newer than the one on which Finless 2.1 is based. Or did you overwrite it with Finless 2.3 and is the information lost...

I'm expecting mine in the coming days, Singapore Post tracking states "Arrived at overseas (Country code: NL)" so I hope it will not take long any more to reach my doorstep. When it arrives I'm planning to install the CWM recovery and make backups first. Let me know if there is interest in these, if there is I'll share it.

Edit: Mine has just been delivered! The current factory versions appear to be:

                                Kernel version: 3.0.36+ rjh_V_401j2 #28 Mon May 13 11:41:01 CST 2013
                                Build number: mk808b_v403j2 2013-05-13 16:58:01

Link to CWM backup including the kernel image:

                                Changes with real factory image:
                                - Intstalled reboot app
                                - Recovery replaced by CWM
                                - Image was executed so I had to click on the initial help messages

This is in my dropbox, I will keep the file until I need the space again.

I tried Finless 2.1 but Wifi speed was hopeless, 4 Mbit/s max. Did a slight antenna mod but stil unusable, although strength looks sufficient. Moved to Finless 1.7 and got almost 10 Mbit/s which is my current subscription speed. I also see much more AP's from the area compared to 2.1 so there are definately Wifi issues with 2.1.

I did not measure speed with the stock rom, but I could play HD youtube without problems while Finless 2.1 gave me interruptions. Finless 1.7 works fine.
