        Re: NEW - MK808-B (original) JB 4.2.2 Official - Finless ROM 2.1

I already posted abut this issue but it got buried under other posts...

Plex doesn't work well with Finless 2.1. When I play a movie the image jumps and after a while the device reboots. It works flawlessly with Finless 1.7. Any idea? Should I contact Plex support instead?

Thanks for your efforts pe1dnn !

Tried all of your suggestions but nothing worked.
In the end i tried the mask rom method from the unbrick thread.
And, voila, after that process tha flkash went nice and smoothly.

So if anybody else had that problem...just try it !

I finally managed to get access to a 1080p capable screen so I could boot my MK808B with Finless 2.1 and change the video setting from 1920*1080 to 1280*720, and now I can use it at home. It runs good, and is stable when I overclock my 808B from 1008 mhz to 1275 mhz.

I am looking forward to your next ROM release, but I am hesitant to install it with the risk that the boot/kernel video mode is still set to 1080p even on the 720p boot/kernel.

I'm in the same situation, I've installed the 720p version, but it is 1080p. I was in my brother's house with a 1080p capable TV and didn't noticed it, but now at home, I had to reflash because my tv isn't 1080p capable.

Another bug I've found is, that all videos stop playing around 2 minutes of starting. but if I fast forward about 2 minutes and a half, it plays correctly.
Is a bug, or I'm doing anything wrong?

            Thanks.

When the 1080p on 720p version bug, is fixed I'll be able to test again...

I haven't noticed this with MX Player. Maybe your problem is the video player that comes with Android, or perhaps even the video file.

I have tried many video files, all of them are ok as I can see it with the original rom.

I haven't tried the MX player, and now I can't do it as I can't boot. I flash with the 720p "version" but it is in 1080p.

How can I solve this problem to check MXPlayer?

                Thanks.

                  Hi!

I'm using finless 1.6 on my genuine 808B for 6 month ago without any problem. Few days ago wifi can't turn on. When I'm clicking to the "enabled" it looks like turns on but happens nothing. The switch goes to "disabled" position. There was a factory reset but same problem
Today I flashed this 2.1 rom but wifi doesn't work. Is it possible wifi radio is dead? Or any Idea?
                  THX in advance!
                  Have a nice day!

I think you are shit out of luck like I was, until you get access to a 1080p screen. Finless doesn't seem to be reading this forum thread so no help from there either.

                      Oh!

Then I'll be waiting to Finless or to a 1080p screen...

There is no way to edit any file to correct the resolution? Mounting de kernel.img or something like this...

Yes it should be possible to mount whichever image file contains the file with the resolution setting, change the setting, then pack all of it together into a new .img.

I actually tried doing this, but looking around on the web on various Android dev forums I couldn't even find correct tools to extract the contents of the main .img. I tried 3 or 4 different tools, including the EXT3/EXT4 capable tools that Disk Internals offers, but nothing worked. In fact, I couldn't even find a correct description of where the settings file is located. Every post I found on the web claimed that JellyBean used this and that file located here and there, but none of the files even exist in this JB4.2.2 ROM when I now browse around in the root filesystem with ES File Explorer.

                          Ok.

I'll try with my linux laptop...

Can you tell me any clue of the file name or anything to search for?

                          Thanks

Unfortunately no, I'm still kinda clueless myself Every post I find on the net says that in Jelly Bean the settings files should be located in /data/data/com.android.settings/files, and on earlier versions they should be in /data/system/users/0. On my Finless 2.1 install, however, the /data directory is completely empty. I even tried a search on the whole file system from the root and down, for files/dirs with "settings" in their name, but nothing could be found. *shrug*

                              Ok .
                              I'll keep searching

                                Android settings

To see files in /data with ES file explorer su rights must once be granted to ES.
Use e.g. Tools/Root-Explorer in ES until the su requestor appears.
Then go back to "local" and "/".
You'll see plenty of subdirectories in /data.
                                Have a look at /data/data/com.android.settings/shared_prefs/com.android.settings_preferences.xml
There is an item called "main_screen_mode" which ist set to "1920x1080p-60".
Maybe that is what you are searching for.

                                Good luck
