How to Flash using rkBatchTool 1.5 ?

Hi, I have finally downloaded the Stock firmware and now I am clueless on how to flash it using rkBatchTool 1.5 (Sorry, very new to this, don't want to follow wrong step)

    1. The procedure on Cozyswan page says that once device is connected, "1" will be in blue colour !! But Usually its Green if device is connected and in flash mode. And after that it says to click "Upgrade"

    2. I saw another post that says to click "Restore" once "1" is Green !!

So what procedure to follow ?

    Regards,

Yes, the output from Terminal Emulator says "Current WiFi chip is RK903", so what does this mean ? Is my MK808b device genuine ?

And my Wifi is working with this firmware but Bluetooth is still an issue. So whats next step ?

          1. Use this tool to split your stock rom.img file into seperate files.

          2. Download Finless BOB rom, unzip it & go to the FinlessRom folder where you will see boot.img, kernel.img & system.img.

          3. Copy the kernel.img file created in step 1 from the temp folder of the app to the folder in step 2, name must be kernel.img.

          4. Flash Finless rom with FinlessFlashtool v1.35 and you will have wifi & probably bluetooth too.

Sounds doable, I will follow steps very carefully but is there a possibility that I might brick my mk808b with this procedure if I miss something ?

And thanks a ton, You are really a life saver. So let me get this straight, every time finless come out with a new ROM; I will have to do this procedure to make my own custom ROM ?

Yes, but just flash stock rom back and it will work again. Use latest drivers and latest flash tools. I flashed my device about 50 times and twice thought it was bricked but got it working again.

Yes, you have RK903 wifi but there are about 3 different versions of it. You can also try to flash one of the clone roms Finless Bob made and see if wifi works with one of them, but it's riskier.
              Hope that helps.

Thanks for answering those questions, I will try that and will let you know how it went.

By the way does this also mean that my MK808b is not original but a fake/clone one ? I am asking this so that I can update this on Seller's webpage and people are watchful before buying this from him.

What I meant with an overclocked kernel was the MK808 kernels that run at 1.4-1.6 Ghz and the ram & GPU is also overclocked. If you flash one of these kernels to MK808B you lose wifi support as the MK808 & MK808B uses different wifi chipsets. The MK808 kernel uses RK901 wifi & the MK808B uses RK903 wifi.
You can overclock the MK808B CPU with setcpu to 1.4 Ghz but it's not the same as when the whole system is overclocked like with a MK808 kernel.

Using an overclocked 1080p kernel on MK808 will allow you to play 1080p videos in xbmc correctly without freezes & stuttering.
Using a 720p kernel on MK808B will allow you to only play about 30-50% of 1080p videos in xbmc without freezes or stuttering. Using an overclocked MK808 kernel eg. the 2Dark4U one on an MK808B will also let you play 1080p videos better in xbmc but wifi is not going to work.

An overclocked CPU and overclocked kernel are two different things as the whole system is overclocked and the system is not just faster but video playback & GPU framerate in games are also better.
As a programmer since a bit over 20 years, I have no absolutely idea what you really mean when you say "an overclocked CPU and overclocked kernel are two different things as the whole system is overclocked". The RK3066/3188 doesn't offer a way to clock the GPU separately from the CPU. There is nothing else to "overclock" on this SoC than the CPU, and when the CPU is clocked higher, the "entire system" runs faster.

Either way, I can play 1080p content just fine on my MK808B at 1.275 GHz, even high bitrate such, without stuttering, on MX Player and MoboPlayer. I never bothered trying XBMC.

You don't have an original device like the first ones that came out, but it's also not a 'fake' one that has bad quality since Cozyswan sells lots of products on Amazon, **** & China. Just the support is not great.
When you buy similar products, do lots of research and see which products are very popular and people create roms for. Buying from companies lile Minix or Geekbuying will give you support and products that have been tested. Companies from China also work great but you have to buy from a place that sells a lot of products, has an excellent star rating and lots of positive reviews for a product and look very closely at the advertising of the product. One word different in the advertising and it can be a completely different product from the pcture.

                      Hi
You can overclock the GPU & RAM separately from the CPU, but not with an app. You have to install a custom kernel where someone changed the frequencies higher for the GPU & RAM in the source code of the kernel. It's currently possible on MK808 and RK3188 devices but not MK808B since it's kernel is not open source.

Overclocking the CPU, doesn't overclock the GPU & RAM too.
The default GPU, Mali 400 runs at 300mhz, it can be overclocked to 400mhz.
You will only see a difference with an overclocked kernel when you run 1080p videos in XBMC, video playback on normal media players will run perfect without an overclocked kernel since it uses closed source drivers from Rockchip. XBMC can only use open source drivers and have to use a more resource intense way, libstagefright to decode video.

Alright I followed the steps you described but there is some issue,
Finless Flash Tool 1.37 that came bundled with v2.1 has 2 options, either kernel720.img or kernel1080.img but I went ahead and modified that option and used only kernel.img that was copied from stock ROM.
It booted and showed finless start screen for a second and then the screen resolution was all screwed up. It booted completely as I could faintly make out the start message where it ask to choose normal launcher or new launcher but screen is all messed up. What did I do wrong ? The only thing I did not follow was to use FinlessFlashtool v1.35

Do you use a 1080p monitor? What resolution was it with the stock rom, kernel 720p or 1080p.
How big is the kernel, can't be more than 8mb. if it is upload it then I can make it smaller.

                          Install stock rom again then
Try to use this rom(fastest at the moment) - http://depositfiles.com/files/t0bwy0f3a and http://depositfiles.com/files/7esp4hxe6
                          1. Copy the first zip to a memory card. In a terminal(download from google play) type 'su' then reboot recovery. Select install from zip file. Install the zip file from your memory card. Now you have CWM installed.
                          2. Copy the 2nd zip(the rom) to your memory card and in terminal type 'su' then reboot to recovery, install the zip from the memory card. Now you have the new rom. If wifi is not working flash the kernel from Windows. In Finless Flash Tool only select kernel, deselect everything else, select flash, don't click erase IDB. Now wifi will work. Further instructions for CWM - http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...rk3066-devices This tool can also make complete backup of your system onto memory card, so you can restore it if something goes wrong.

I am using 1080p Television, so that should not be a problem.
No Idea what was the resolution was with the stock rom.
Stock Kernel is 7.28 MB and here is the link, https://mega.co.nz/#!ZckjTADZ!PB6LGj...0HSKjIYrZcg8XE

Depositfiles is blocked with my ISP unable to download them but I am trying, do let me know if you have another links for these files.

                              Kernel looks fine.

Link to another rom you can try, replace kernel.

I have downloaded both the files, copied them in SD card and rebooted device in recovery as you suggested but I get a dead Droid with a red Exclamation on its belly. Is this correct ? And then device boot back to normal state, how to figure out if it booted in recovery mode ?

Also, I tried navigating to the files on SD card using the explorer. Once I click the CWM rar file, it asks me to select the app I would like it to open with. Don't understand which one to select, tried Android package installer and Google Verify and install but no luck. Tried looking around but did not find good enough info except that one post says that I should have renamed the CWM rar to update.rar !!
