    I bricked my MK808B

    Hi Bob,

I have tried flashing both 720 and 1080, both seemed to brick my MK808B.
ie. When I plug it in to TV nothing happens

Below is the screenshot of what I did

After it finishes, it disconnects itself from the PC, the text there becomes "no found RKAndroid rock usb", then I waited for 40 minutes, nothing happens. The TV screen is still blank.

I tried plugging it in to power normally, nothing happens.

    EDIT:
Thanks a lot phinc and bobcov!
It turned out I did indeed get a different variant of MK808B.
I have managed to restore the original ROM, back with no remote control

You probably have a MK808B clone. Some of these do not boot with standard firmwares. Look into the "MK808B clones and how to identify them" sticky thread for help.

[ hi, just going to take a wild stab at another possibility. Did you take the usb cable out of the port you used for firmware upgrade and plug it into the usb port on the end of the stick ? If by chance you did not then that is probably the solution. If you did, then open up the stick and make sure it looks like the pictures on this forum which are used to identify the various variants of the mk808b serjes and be sure to flash again with the correct firmware. Bob, but NOT the Bob who created this software QUOTE=aximili;163991]Hi Bob, Could I get your help please? :'( I have tried flashing both 720 and 1080, both seemed to brick my MK808B. ie. Remote control

I don't think Finless has any ROM for my MK808B variant

I just want to be able to remote control it from my phone.
Does anyone know a way to achieve this?

I tried installing RKRemoteControl on my phone but it couldn't find my MK808B eventhough it has eHomeMediaCenter.

            You can try DroidMote.

I just can't figure out why finless 2.1 won't work for me... I bought the MK808B just for playing videos BUT in literally every player i've tried video is lagging, stuttering and sound is delayed. The rest works like a charm, ROM is fast, responsive. Wi-fi, browser, launcher, everything else works like butter. Just the damn video is lagging. Yes i have tried reinstaling ROM, players, everything possible but no luck. Stick is original, not clone, tested.

Please help, any suggestions are very much welcome!

              Thanks in advance

              any suggstions for my problem?

Are you using 720p or 1080p kernel? Have you tried mx player with codec?

I'm on 720p. Never tried 1080p, don't even need that as i'm not a super quality freak. I just want my videos to be fluid. As i said before, i've tried almost every possible video player including MX Player. But no luck. I just don't get it.

I have flashed PrajihsterROM and video playback is fine now, but ROM itself is a little bit slow plus there is no bluetooth.

Oh, okay. I don't think there is one at the moment.
You can try to make a Frankenstein rom with finless 2.1(or latest mk808b stock rom) system.img and everything else (kernel, boot and loader) from your stock rom. Maybe it boots.

Thank you for the answer! but I've just tryed it and it boots but wifi doesn't work... :-(
And indeed video quality is still crappy with many videos, is that any video card's fault?
Is there something else I can do?...

It seems that the bad video playback performance is kernel related then. The only thing you can try is to increase the cpu clock in SetCPU (or a similar app). But this may lead to overheating, so be carefull.

You can propably get wifi to work using this method:
Try to extract the follwing files from the original stock rom and copy them to your finless 2.1 rom (overwrite existing files):

                              /system/lib/libhardware_legacy.so
                              /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko,rkwifi.ko
                              /system/etc/firmware/WIFI_RAM_CODE
                              /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
                              / System / bin / Netd
                              / System / bin / wpa_supplicant
                              / System / bin / wpa_cli

Also set the permissions correctly (like they were before).
PS: which video player are you using?

Than you, I'm going to try tomorrow!
I've tried the stock one and mx player... Many videos I can clearly see on my pc have low quality. Frequently they are clumpy, or looks like a codec defect, but I've installed custom codec for mx player too!!
And according to the cpu, can I overclock it without a custom kernel?
