Also, I tried navigating to the files on SD card using the explorer. Once I click the CWM rar file, it asks me to select the app I would like it to open with. Don't understand which one to select, tried Android package installer and Google Verify and install but no luck. Tried looking around but did not find good enough info except that one post says that I should have renamed the CWM rar to update.rar !!
You have to unrar CWM_Recovery_MK808B_v6.0.3.1.rar on your pc, inside it is update.zip, copy that to your SDCard. Use Winrar or 7zip on your PC. Instead of Terminal app, you can download any reboot app from google play to reboot to recovery. You can also hold a pin into the hole above the blue light while plugging the power and hdmi cable into your monitor to boot to recovery.
You basically want to replace the default Recovery with the one in the update.zip, Only the updated CWM Recovery can flash this new roms that are in zip format, the old Recovery can only flash img roms.

First of all hello to everybody, this is my first post on freaktab!
I installed that rom witout any problems on my MK808 and it's working fine, but I still have the problem that my XBox 360 controller doesn't work at all.
Is there no support within this release or am I missing something?
Sorry, but I am quite new to these android tv sticks and I wanted to use it as emulation device (SNES, N64 etc) but without a working controller, it just makes no sense...
      Thanks in advance!

I just looked at the rom, it doesn't look like xbox remotes are supported.
You can manually add the xpad.ko file, but it's complicated.
In the meantime you can try MiniX Hybrid Rom 2.2.4 for MK808, it definitely includes Xbox 360 support or if you want the fastest rom and feel adventurous you can try MK808B_digitopMod_MINIX_NEO-G4_port(0730)_Sep2013 (14.09.2013) and flash a MK808 kernel afterwards.

How big is the kernel, can't be more than 8mb. if it is upload it then I can make it smaller.

          Install stock rom again then
Try to use this rom(fastest at the moment) - http://depositfiles.com/files/t0bwy0f3a and http://depositfiles.com/files/7esp4hxe6
          1. Copy the first zip to a memory card. In a terminal(download from google play) type 'su' then reboot recovery. Select install from zip file. Install the zip file from your memory card. Now you have CWM installed.
          2. Copy the 2nd zip(the rom) to your memory card and in terminal type 'su' then reboot to recovery, install the zip from the memory card. Now you have the new rom. If wifi is not working flash the kernel from Windows. In Finless Flash Tool only select kernel, deselect everything else, select flash, don't click erase IDB. Now wifi will work. Further instructions for CWM - http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...rk3066-devices This tool can also make complete backup of your system onto memory card, so you can restore it if something goes wrong.
Alright, MK808B_digitopMod_MINIX_NEO-G4_port(0730)_Sep2013 installed, downloaded Antutu to see the performance and the device crashes every time I click on AnTuTu !! Why ?
WiFi is working but bluetooth is not, should I still go ahead and install Kernel from Stock ROM ? But in Stock ROM also WiFi was working but Bluetooth wasn't.
Bluetooth was working only in the ROM it was originally shipped with.

You have to ask the seller to upload the rom from one of his devices. Tell him how to install CWM and backup rom to SDCard and upload it or get website from manufacturer to download rom. Then extract the kernel and flash it. If you post detailed info about your device eg. wifi, bluetooth and follow instructions here http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...n-more-devices and post your output to a text file or pastebin on that thread, someone might be able to get bluetooth working for you. I can't help further.
Antutu might crash if it thinks your device is a Samsung one and look for other files that don't exist, the rom changes your device to Samsung so that more apps from Google Play can work on it. You can change your device through build.prop but it's complicated.

No issues, I can understand. And let me thank you for the amount of time and quick replies you gave, this forum, you and finless ROCK Thanks again for all the help.

See here - http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...&uk=2402519506 You will have to type the download link for the firmware in manually. Download the 3rd rooted one.
On the seller's website it said Cozyswan, and this is Cozyswan stock firmware.
Roms other than the stock one will not work on your device, sorry. Unless you identify your wifi chipset and use the correct kernel.

                When you're up and running
1.Install terminal emulator from playstore and open it, or download it on PC and copy it to Flashdrive to MK808B
2.type su (you must be rooted)
                3. type dmesg
From the output scroll down and look for the wifi entries and see if it is rk903 or something else
There are many entries so keep looking to end of the output and post it here.
Hi Mo123, I saw in a post for 1.7 finless kernel that its compatible with RK903 wifi Chipset, do you think it would be a good idea for me to flash my MK with one of 1.7 ? But which one ? There are 4 of it ?? Another question, does custom ROM boost the wifi signal ?

There are 3 different MK808B roms here - http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ot-Finless-1-7, you can test all of them.
The MK808B Original model one has the RK903 wifi.
People say some custom roms improve wifi, but only an improved custom kernel can improve wifi for certain, which is not available for the MK808B at the moment.

                    RK Remote APP

                    Hey Bob,

Is there a way to have the apk of the RK Remote APP server so I can put it in my android tv

I'm very interested in this feature, but I'm afraid I might screw up my device trying to install you custom ROM, and I'm not even sure that my device is a genuine mk808b (for one thing it's already rooted)

                    Thanks

This ROM is not compatible with Boat Browser?

Android 4.1.1 roms are better than Android 4.2 roms.
Don't know about boat browser, but it should work great on a Android 4.1.1 rom.

I got in touch with the seller and he followed up with the manufacturer. The manufacturer then provided following ROM http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...&uk=2134144741 and Bluetooth has started working but now Wifi is dead

Is it be possible to extract Bluetooth drivers from this ROM and put it into other ROM ?

Can't get into flash mode :-(

I am trying to following your instructions to the letter, but I cannot:

You say to make sure "USB storage is turned ON" -
but there is no such option in my Android Settings!

Under Android Settings/USB there is only the option "Connect to PC", and I have tried that both checked and unchecked, and neither one allows flash mode to be entered.

I used the paperclip method to connect and successfully installed the drivers. When use the flash tool to reboot to flash mode, flash tool says "Device can not do flash mode because it is not msc device".

                            Please help!

I have an "original" MK808B (according to this thread).

                            Code:
                            stock ROM 4.2.2
                            Kernel version 3.0.36+

The USB Storage setting is in the rockchip settings app. Look in the app drawer, the icon are two gear wheels.
And for the paper clip method: read the instrucions carefully, it says nothing about rebooting. You are in flash mode when the device is detected by the flash tool.

The Settings app just exited immediately back to desktop, so that was no help.
But I was able to flash successfully with the paperclip - thanks for the clarifications.

NOTE: I had some flash-verification issues, but moving the USB cable away from other electronics helped - perhaps RF interference.

So I did get it flashed, but everything is horribly laggy. Whenever a dialog is up, the (BT) mouse pointer updates at about 8 frames per sec. Is this normal for this ROM??

I tried Force GPU rendering, but no difference.
