Having a fiddle with the Inphic i5 S805 1/8gb
Bit of testing to see how things perform..

Takes about 1 minute to boot from a cold start.
Remote performs fair with this device.
Now Using the Logitech K400r.
All setup easy. no problems found

1/8Gb not a snappy unit remembering the spec's and the price.
AnTuTU v 5.7 showing a score of just under 21,000
Ethernet connection OK WiFi tested Ok

Netflix in and tested Ok for this device
Plex a few Movies, TV shows Ok after uninstall and reinstall.
Kodi...was there but it wasn't uninstall reinstall..better not 100% yet

Not a beast, I feel you can make it do most things.

Hi, good news!

First firmware update is ready. Two ways to get it:

1. Install this APP for OTA service: http://www.inphic.com/download/downl...pot-i5-ota-app

Just download the APP from the TV Box browser, install and open. Your SPOT i5 will detect the latest version of firmware and upgrade.

Upgrade by using Amlogic burning tools


Firmwares under 20151113 does not support OTA, then, this APP is required. After install this version OTA will be there.

Latest firmware is rooted

Thanks for the Update....
Tried with the APP for OTA all that did was drop me to recovery and could not do much from there.

Followed Instructions (pity cant see the reset button luckily I drilled it earlier) about 5 minutes to install new firmware.



It will sit at a loading screen while new firmware sets it self up on on the i5, takes awhile so don't Paninc.
Get greeted with new system to reset up, all apps wiped best to start fresh no junk in the trunk.
Remote works through complete process.
Version Now show KOT49H.20151113test-keys


I enlarged it as I prefer to use a tooth pick, a paper clip would fit, the idea sticking bits of metal in bothers me

I just got mine in today.
Remote doesn't work very well at all.
I put in new batteries but need to be about 6ft in order to get it to do anything but turn on & off.
And need to be standing next to it to actually use the remote and even then there is a delay when I hit the navigation buttons.

Luckily I had an air mouse with full keyboard it's own dongle and now I can play with it.

anyone else had a problem with the remote?

Most remotes can be ordinary.
Due to the small size of the opening for the IR this may have something to do with it I feel

Besides the remote not working Crackle app doesn't work.
Just crashes to the home screen.
Kodi locks up when browsing my media server to the point where I have to shut it off.

I've run the firmware update.
I've uninstalled & reinstalled Kodi.

Any suggestions?

Edit, turning off thumbnail view in kodi lets me browse but it locks up randomly when I play a video & still have to shut it off in order to do anything.

We are testing kodi.

What is the problem with remote? We could send you a new one...

Also, there is a "remote control" option in the settings menu. What apps can take advantage of this?

I found an app called "Smart iRemote" works with the Inphic Spot i5.

Still would like to know if there are bluetooth dongles that work with the i5.

My Spot i5 arrived and it's nice for the price, but have got troubles with enclosed remote. It obviously have some commands common with my LG TV. Like when I press up or back my TV reacts too. Any suggestions?

Crackle problem fixed

Probably an OTA update will be sent tomorrow. Engineers are testing now.
