The kernel is new kernel and was compiled by me. This rom is very very fast and for the first time i can also play many 1080p videos in the last version of XBMC. I not know if is the new rom (better) or xbmc was updated.

Great stuff, where can I find the source?

Xbmc is constantly updated, many changes for android are committed each nightly.

There's a thread with links to source in the parent forum to this.

          I'm getting compile errors

get the system.img from this rom http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php.../#.UsXI-4Uad_U

and swap my kernel and boot img to have the same rom of the mk908 but with right kernel and boot

              for root this rom:

download and install this tool http://www.kingoapp.com/

              start the t428

              start moborobo

              moborobo must recognize the t428

              start Kingo android root

              click on remove root

              click on root again

install / update supersu when android 4.4.2 is running on your t428

              p.s.
sorry but i not have time to upload also the system.img

Wendal tool, rename update.img to wendal.img, click runme, click on 1 and the system.img will be extracted in the temp folder.

You can use also others system.img 4.4.2 for mk908 already rooted and with build.prop modified

Otherwise to root read my post.

I've managed to get the KK kernel sources to compile for the AP6330 and changed a few things.

When I put together an update.img all worked but the root was 'lost' so I guess I've got even more to learn!

Rooting kitkat is totally different than 4.2.2!
SU must now run as a daemon.

                      Ok

So I took the kasty rooted mk908 (ap6210) kitkat ROM (update.img), unpacked, replaced kernel and boot and repacked.

All flashed fine but Root no longer worked. What should I have done differently? Something in the boot.img?

I do not know how Kasty rooted his ROM. Most of the roots for kitkat use the install-recovery.sh script or if init.d is enabled, a script in init.d to start the daemon. In my opinion this is a crappy way to do it as it is easy to loose root if these scripts are changed (some root APPs do this). In my new kitkat ROM I did it the correct way (in boot.img) so you should not loose root.

                          @strauzo

How did you create the kernel? I have downloaded the MK908 KitKat sources and compiled without amendment of the .config which should have created an AP6210 KK kernel.

I get a successful compile but the kernel will not boot, nor will any of the AP6330 variants I've built (all compiling without (fatal) error).

Can you let me know your approach/share you makefile/.config?

Then it must be something in my set-up. How very frustrating.

I installed Ubuntu 13.10 32-bit into a VM, copied the sources, downloaded the requisite libraries, found a set of pre-built toolchains, set two environment variables (ARCH/CROSS_COMPILE), changed the permissions on mkkrnlimg and executed "make clean" and built the kernel with "make kernel.img"

The only frig I did was to move a couple of includes for the net ipv4 module that were ambiguously named.

                                Anything obvious I've got wrong?
